I am shocked that Verizon has the audacity to say that they have full coverage throughout Palo Alto. I have 1 bar almost everywhere near my home, and experience dropped calls at least 50% of the time I'm in my home. It's totally inferior service to AT&T. I will be returning to AT&T soon. Do NOT switch from AT&T to Verizon, or you will seriously regret it.Was this review helpful to you?
Reception is usually fine outside, but variable indoors when I or the other caller will often experience breaking up voice. Inside some concrete garages and buildings with thick walls I get little reception. Was this review helpful to you?
Verizon has very spotty coverage in and around the Stanford campus. In fact, my phone jumps to 3G data speeds occasionally because of poor coverage, while other times I cannot get a data connection at all. Areas along Sand Hill Rd.and Junipero Serra are one big coverage hole. Dropped calls are not uncommon. Coverage in other areas around the outside of campus seems fairly good at times, while other times it's terrible. Overall, I've been pretty dissatisfied with Verizon's coverage in and around Stanford, and I'm giving serious consideration to switching to a different carrier. Was this review helpful to you?
I get one to two bars with AT&T, and that is with two different handsets. Calls are sometimes dropped unless I stand near a window, and sometimes even then. A salesperson at the local AT&T said it might be because I am on the coverage boundaries for two different cell towers. Occasionally, I get no coverage at all, although that problem seems to have gone away as of late. The above is inside my apartment. Standing on the sidewalk at the corner of Webster and Channing, I usually get 3-4 bars. Using the same handsets as above, I get 4-5 bars with T-Mobile. No dropped calls ever and great data connection. Using Ookla Speedtest, the measured data transfer rate for T-Mobile was ten times greater than for AT&T. Latency was ten times greater for T-Mobile than for AT&T, however. The overall effect on the handsets was that the apparent data speed for T-Mobile was noticeably faster than for AT&T.Was this review helpful to you?
Unbelievably bad reception at my home for years 0-2 bars depending on conditions. I don't receive half the calls made to me. Calls drop all the time. Verizon solution is an inhome receiver via my wifi but if I come or go calls are dropped each time. Calls started dropping on Middlefield near Charleston and on San Antonio and Middlefield for the last couple weeks but seemed not to drop last week. The issue is ATT and the rest have equally bad reception so there is no alternative. Was this review helpful to you?
Never had a call without it being dropped. I called customer service to complain and they told me "You signed a contract stating that there is no guarantee of coverage indoors." Not only are my calls being dropped indoors but they also get dropped outside of my house, and anywhere from 1 mile radius of my house. I filed many tickets with them in 2013 / 2014 only to call again in 2015 and them telling me that there is no record of me ever complaining to them. By far, Verizon has the poorest reception I've seen compared to other carriers and the worst customer service. I completely lost trust in them. Was this review helpful to you?
I usually get 1-2 bars at home. Voice calls are usually good quality if I am near a window. If I move away from the windows more than 8-10 feet, voice calls often break up. Out on the street, the phone usually shows 3 bars. Since the phone is unlocked, I tried a T-Mobile SIM. Usually 5 bars, and very occasionally 4 bars. I turned off my WiFi router to see what data speeds were like. Measured using speedtest.net, AT&T had one-tenth the bandwidth and one-tenth the latency of T-Mobile. Overall, web browsing, etc. was much better with T-Mobile. The data transfer rates seems to matter much more than the latency. Was this review helpful to you?
Over the past month, the reception for Verizon in Palo Alto South going towards 101 to 85 South is terrible. The calls drop in 3 places! Not sure what is causing this but it is an issue when on work calls and they drop 3 times within 5 minutes. Was this review helpful to you?
LTE now works indoors and now outside but download speeds rarely exceed 5mbitsWas this review helpful to you?
I've had Sprint for the last decade. Although my building, solid concrete with rebar walls, is notorious for dropping calls, I so rarely have poor or dropped connections, I'm shocked when friends are visiting and can't make calls. The only time I lost all service, very inconveniently, was in the mountains, on my way to Yosemite. Their offices are convenient and their staff Tech savvy and super helpful. Im a happy camper / user. Was this review helpful to you?
