Reception is great. Once I went in to the Verizon store to get a cable, and the "service" was so laughably horrible that I swore I'd move to a new carrier as soon as possible.

Inside the Bank of America building (the white monolith with no windows) in the area I used to work in, there would generally be no service whatsoever. Infrequently it would be roaming. Fellow employees using Verizon seemed to have no trouble at all. As always, it may not be Sprint's fault; it just may be the phone I was using.

Most of the time I have 3 bars but the signal can disappear momentarily without notice and the call drops, even when using the speakerphone or earbud with the phone in a stationary position. About 25% of my calls drop at this location. After a few complaints to Verizon, I was told it is a terrain issue which is not scheduled to be addressed anytime in the next two years. They said I could switch carriers without paying a penalty. The service used to be better and has deteriorated in the last six months.

I live in East Pasadena and work in Santa Monica. In two months of fairly heavy usage, I dropped one call on T-Mobile. Maybe it's my phone but even when I have one or two bars, the call doesn't get choppy. I had Verizon and Sprint before and had issues with dropped calls and calls going straight to voicemail (or the phone not ringing). For call quality in Southern California, T-Mobile might just have the best network (and, from what I hear, Cingular might have the worst).

Phone mostly unusable. Drops most calls within 30-60 sec. Service has gotten substantially worse during the first half of 2006
