In 30 years we electrified 95% of the US. Since 1980's only 8% of US has broadband, reliable cell - SHAME ON THE US AND ITS GREED. When your contract ends go dark. Then they'll know!

Verizon barely works here and when it does most of the conversation inaudibly chopped up I used to have Surewest which worked well but Verizon bought them and did not take all the radio-towers held by Surewest claiming overlapping coverage. Well this supposed overlapping coverage is not true as they state, now either tower is over 6 miles from me and there was a active tower within 2 miles. Since that tower shut down I went from FULL 5 bars to 1 if any bars. Service now is lousy and I will likely switch if a better coverage is available from alternate provider!

When at home I get no reception whatsoever. Anywhere east of the HWY 50 - Ponderosa exit in El Dorado County has no reception. I usually get 1 bar in Rescue and El Dorado Hills. I get good service in Sac, too bad I don't live or work down there.

Verizon Wireless has been improved in the Georgetown, Garden Valley, and Kelsey areas ever since they picked up Mountain Cellular. Much better than Cingular. There are very few places I can't make a call. Bars range from 1 to 4 depending on the location. In some places calls become choppy on my Motoroloa phone. My daughter's Nokia phone gets much better reception with much less choppy-ness. She only seems to have problems in some areas in Cool. I have been very pleased with the coverage in our area, and only hope that signal strength improves. I purchased a tri-band Motorola phone thinking I would need it to fall back on analog service, but have nor needed it. My daughter and I can keep in touch using text messaging from almost anywhere on the Georgetown divide, and I can even use web services to check my usage and download extras.

I get reception along Missouri Flat Rd then along Pleasant Valley Rd going North, except for the intersection with Hwy. 49 and at Bridgeport Lumber, where my calls get dropped every time. Once I turn onto Oak Hill Rd, reception is sketchy, and mostly non-existent. I can't use the phone at my house at all.

Pretty good coverage on 50 from Cameron Park all the way to Placerville, then basically nothing once you pass Pt View, then a small spot of coverage up near the Caltrans Sand House between Camino and Pollock Pines, then nothing all the way up the canyon until you reach Strawberry, and pretty spotty coverage all the way to Echo Summit, decent coverage all the way down to Meyers. From Meyers to So Lake, poor if any reception, until you reach So Lake Tahoe, where its OK.

Have to stand in the pond to get even a portion of one bar... .cannot get coverage at all inside the house. T-Mobile has almost no coverage outside of the freeway corridor. I always have full coverage in Sac County where I work, which is of course Roaming... but almost nothing once I get off the freeway at Forni Rd. I'm looking for a new carrier now - that's how I happened on this site. Great resource. Too bad we can't get any of the cell phone companies to listen to our needs.

Although a weak signal can be received while standing motionless outdoors, there is absolutely no signal from inside a building.
