Love Apple, Love the iPhone, Hate Hate Hate the lousy reception in Playa del Rey. Lousy in my apt, Lousy on the street. 0 to 1 bars up. You can complain all you want, AT&T could care less. Lousy. I'm now planning to switch to Verizon or Sprint with a new iPhone. Enough of AT&T. They have done a lousy job in Los Angeles - and definitely in the beach community. Consider yourself warned!

At my house it says 'no service'. Iphone 3g has been slow since the Iphone 4 came out. I cannot decide if ATT sucks or if my phone sucks. My old 2g is actually faster. I am not sure if I should switch to Verizon, or upgrade my phone with ATT. In the short term it would be cheaper to stay with ATT. But then I have to sign a new 2 yr contract. But if I could get service at my house, it would be worth it to switch.

Way back, when Pac Bell became ATT, I lost reception in my apt except for on the front porch or near the front windows. I switched to Verizon and have had ZERO problems since.

Pathetic reception. I'm switching to T-Mobile TODAY

Constant dropped calls for all carriers this area indoors or out. Roaming charges for Sprint.

No dropped calls and no issues with reception for the past 6 months

Bad reception, no reception at all for hours then 4 bars for a few minutes and gone gain.

We're on the top floor face the south side in our complex and have not had any problems with AT&T coverage. Our building is predominantly wood and stucco and have two large sliding doors facing south (and possible to the cell towers).

I lived in pdr near the airport and I had a sailboat in marina del rey about 7 mins away and I had no reception!

Not possible to have a normal phone conversation from the house.

I get absolutely NO reception with Sprint. I was thinking about switching over to T-Mobile, but after reading all the comments, I'm not sure about that either. So frustrating.

Until December 2005, TMobile service was patchy at best. Since then, service has been great, with bars in 4 or 5 range.

Had 2-3 bars until March 2005 then T-Mobile migrated off Cingular infrastructer. Coverage dropped to 0 bars inside and 1 bar outside. There is a T-Mobile tower within a mile however, there is a hill and houses between us and the tower.

I often have 5 bars in the house - always 3. Our T-Mobile phones do not work at all here though they did until March of 2005. Cingular signal is pretty good. We're on the West side of the hill overlooking the ocean. The big problem here is that the hill blocks the signals from many of the closer towers leaving the only 'visible' towers across Santa Monica Bay in Malibu or Palos Verdes. Verizon is also decent up here. I will be dropping T-Mobile for Verizon as of 1 / 3 / 2007

Can't Get ANY reception inside Condo. 5 Bars in Westchester. ALL OTHER PHONES GET RECEPTION, Verizon and even Cingular. You get a lot of minutes and free web - can't use inside condo so why have free minutes for nights and weekends when you can't use them?

VERY splotchy. My calls drop at the most random times, or in certain parts of my apt if I walk around while talking.

bought a new phone and a new plan - Cingular treo 650 - great reception - no problems at all.

Up to last year 2 / 04, I had no problems with reception. Not only has reception been bad, but since early 2 / 05, my reception has gotten much worse. I can no longer use my phone at my home. I can barely use it in my neighborhood. It also has been pretty poor in reception in around the 10 and Santa Monica Blvd, various parts of San Diego, and West LA. I hate verizon. I may even cancel my contract early just because of the frustration. I am also planning on going back to a landline since people can't reach me.

Either this phone or GSM really sucks. Reception started out OK but now it's bad. I'll 3 out of 5 bars, try to make a phone call and 5 seconds in the call is droped and the display shows 0 out of 5 bars. Then like magic it pops back to 3.
