My Samsung got 1 or 2 bars and my Razr V3xx now gets 4 bars. If there are no new cell towers for AT&T uin the past 3 years then the better reception is due to the phone.

Drops calls all the time. this company has been nothing but trouble. we have tried to work with their costumer service team (good luck getting a real person on the phone.) They say they have the fewest dropped calls, 1st of all the calls can't be dropped if they never connect.

Intermittant reception here I have to walk around to find signal. Most of the area right near this intersection and at western ranches off rancho road is poor reception. also I have dropped calls right at i-5 and bechelli lane exit.

My Motorola never had reception problems. My new Samsung SGH-417 has only one bar and sometimes two. Reception is iffy,

Totally sucks. But it seems others are not any better. Used to be good TDMA with original ATT but Cingular / Att merger seemed to drop towers. I don't think reception will ever improve in the Redding area. The few carriers left have deals to just split the market between them. Where is our government oversight when we need it?

My house is less than two miles east from Shasta Lake City. I've never had a problem with reception there, or in Shasta Lake around CVHS.

Have been with Sprint since 98 and find that overall my phones reception is good anywhere in both the bay area and up and down the hwy 5 from Sacramento to Reading... The signal does begin to fade a bit around Mountian Gate, but I still have reception. I am actually a happy customer, but agree that their customer service is extreamly poor.

I had Sprint and I was having drop calls every time. It was funny it will ring twice and then drop. All my friends in Redding, CA told me that Verizon is best here. I went and bought 3 Motorola Razor V3m phones. The reception seems a bit better but you can not make out what the other party is saying. Verizon just installed a tower about a mile from my house as they mentioned, still VERY VERY POOR reception. Looking for better service and phones.

Placer / Buenaventura / Lakeside, Redding, CA 96001 Mon Feb 21, 2005

I live near Mary Lake and have poor reception using Verizon Wireless. I have blackouts on Lakeside coming up from Buenaventura and several dead spots in my home and poor reception at best. The first told me it was because of the old phone I was using, which was only 1 1 / 2 years old, so I switched to a new phone which the recommended LG ux4500... no change with reception--everything is stil the same. In addition during the French Gulch and Jones Valley fires this past summer, I would get no service at all at times... my phone wouldn't even ring. They had no explanation for that either--they said it was phone! What a joke.
