AT&T cell phone service is ATROCIOUS for my business phone in the Esplanade area of Redondo Beach. AT&T refuses to let people get a waiver on the early termination fee because the CEO of AT&T realizes what a piss poor network he has. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and set up a blog warning new residents to the Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach areas about the low quality AT&T service. Not going to waive the early termination fee because AT&T is too greedy with money? Then let's see how many people I can discourage from getting an AT&T phone in the Beach Cities areas with my SEO expertise. Screw you, AT&T, the battle has only just begun!

Service 'available' but usually unusable / unreliable for the most part. Voice / data overage is mostly better a block or two away in most directions but ATT coverage remains deficient. ATT needs to add, at least, fill sites in this area. It's no better than it was two years ago when it was to be 'improved' and remains erroneously reported as strongly covered on ATT's voice and data coverage maps.

Never have a problem at home and I rarely have problems around the area. There is a spot on Manhattan Beach Blvd. near El Camino College that my calls drop. Otherwise, I have no problems.

Nearly gave a 5-bars, but on the rare occassion I have reception problems, but they might be due to the cell phone on the other end. I switched from Sprint because of *awful* signal... had to go to 2nd floor to hope for reception and had *no chance* of reception in the basement. When I found out that Cingular (now AT&T) had a tower a 1 / 4 mile to the west, down hill from my home, I switched hoping that their tower would paint my home better. My hunch was correct, and now, I can make a call anywhere in the house... in happy-camper mode. I didn't make a entry for Sprint because the information would be so old.

Signal consistently dropped from my house such that I have to walk outdoors to have a conversation. Once I had a friend trying to reach me -- he called four times and it went straight to voicemail; no indication of any missed calls on my iPhone. When I was with Verizon I very rarely had any reception issues.

Switched from Treo with Verizon to iPhone with AT&T last Sept '08 solely because of the iPhone features. Initially reception in my house was good until a few weeks+ ago. Now it's useless trying to have a conversation on my cell phone while at home... I'm going back to Verizon if AT&T doesn't fix this problem soon.

I seem to get good and bad reception. Many dropped calls and choppy conversations. Seems to work much better in early morning and proceeds to get worse in latter part of day. Not sure if getting a newer phone will make the problem better.

Used to be 5 in my house until a few weeks ago. Now reception wonders on a minute-by-minute basis between 5 and 0. Call quality went way down, disconnecting me often. Called AT&T but they said 4-6 weeks to check out the area.

AT&T gets 1 bar if you are lucky when you are at the pier or the condo's behind the pier. When you look at the tower map you can see that there are no towers in that area.

Older Samsung phone on ATT's older network was fine, but upgraded to the Samsung Sync on what ATT called their new network, and service has gone from 3-4 bars to 0-1 bar, and only when I'm outside on my balcony. Indoors I miss most calls. ATT said it was my SIM card, but they changed it with no improvement.

Just moved here from.75 miles east in North Redondo. Cingular / AT&T reception was great in Redondo, almost non-existent here in Manhattan Beach.

I would give it a 0 but I can get a signal at the window but it will drop even if I have on speaker phone and not moving it at all. I would love to get rid of my land line but no one in my building has a carrier that doesn't blow.

I have lived in my townhouse for 3 years and have never gotten good coverage from Cingular. I need to go outside on my deck or on the sidewalk to make a call. All of my neighbors complain about the same thing. We don't know of a good provider in our neighborhood.

Grant and Mackay, Redondo Beach, CA 90278 Tue Sep 19, 2006

After Cingular sent out a notice to upgrade the SIM card my reception at home / office all but stopped. Almost no bars and calls dropping constantly. Tried moving my SIM card to 3 other phones--same problem Tried to rectify the problem with Cingualr... re-routing to another tower (att or cingular--since they merged) All to no avail. two blocks away in any direction it would work fine. Called them so many times, went into the Cingular store--all to no avail. they finaly admited they could not help me. I'm changing my phone carrier! As for reception on Aviation just north of PCH and up until about Grant. THis is the notorious Cingular DEAD ZONE. With the amount of money we spend on cell phones we shoud be getting sollid gold phones studded with diamonds and swarovski crystal clear reception everywhere!

Aviation / PCH Next To Ralphs, Redondo Beach, CA 90278 Fri Jan 20, 2006

As I drive north on Aviation at PCH, I lose 99% of my calls once I pass Ralph's and by the time I get to Prospect. Been this way for years. Why won't / cant fix it? Cell service has gone through the roof. Now paying near $90 for 3 fones on a Family Plan. My land line never cost more than $3o just 3 yrs ago. Cell companies need more competition!

Power bars with GSM are great everywhere but the voice quality is so bad one cannot rattle off a string of numbers because I won't hear at least one. Same problem with my old Nokia 8260 with TDMA (AT&T). Pacbell voice quality was great but they had major holes in their coverage throughout Torrance. I've read that Verizon is the best with customers in the nation but they only have terrible looking phones.

Seems to be almost as good as my Verizon service after a few days of testing. Cingular seems to have a few more holes where you can't get a signal but usually it's strong in my place at Brookside Village.
