Living by the beach can have it's benefits, but cell phone reception is not one of them! I have good signal strength on the local streets, but inside my north-west facing apartment the signal is a 1 / 2 bar. And I do have windows. There are just no cell towers to the west, north or south of my area. They are all east of PCH. The odd thing is I can send and get texts... .. just poor phone signal. I asked the local Sprint store and they said "Yeah, signal is poor on s catalina" as a matter of fact. The Sprint sales representitive suggested I buy a signal booster from them for a hundred bucks. I told him it's not my job to get my phone a better signal, it's yours! 8 years with one company, and still the same dead spots exhist. I just don't think the cell phone companies care anymore, they just want you to sell you app's.

AT&T cell phone service is ATROCIOUS for my business phone in the Esplanade area of Redondo Beach. AT&T refuses to let people get a waiver on the early termination fee because the CEO of AT&T realizes what a piss poor network he has. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and set up a blog warning new residents to the Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach areas about the low quality AT&T service. Not going to waive the early termination fee because AT&T is too greedy with money? Then let's see how many people I can discourage from getting an AT&T phone in the Beach Cities areas with my SEO expertise. Screw you, AT&T, the battle has only just begun!

I had my LG lotus for a year and it had the worst reception down at the beach. It was really impossible to make or receive calls when at the beach. My old Samsung I had for over 4 years worked great, so I know you can get coverage there. I just got the LG Rumer Touch and it get bad reception too, so I'll be trading it in before the 30 days.

Service 'available' but usually unusable / unreliable for the most part. Voice / data overage is mostly better a block or two away in most directions but ATT coverage remains deficient. ATT needs to add, at least, fill sites in this area. It's no better than it was two years ago when it was to be 'improved' and remains erroneously reported as strongly covered on ATT's voice and data coverage maps.

I get disconnected often, and sometimes it just doesn't connect, and sometimes when it does connect, the connection is horrible. That's right on the beach. Most of the time I can make calls throughout the area with no problem. There were some ares down in the low lying streets east of prospect where I would get zero signals. They're really inexpensive, but I'm not sure how good the connections of other companies "really" are.

Nearly gave a 5-bars, but on the rare occassion I have reception problems, but they might be due to the cell phone on the other end. I switched from Sprint because of *awful* signal... had to go to 2nd floor to hope for reception and had *no chance* of reception in the basement. When I found out that Cingular (now AT&T) had a tower a 1 / 4 mile to the west, down hill from my home, I switched hoping that their tower would paint my home better. My hunch was correct, and now, I can make a call anywhere in the house... in happy-camper mode. I didn't make a entry for Sprint because the information would be so old.

I seem to get good and bad reception. Many dropped calls and choppy conversations. Seems to work much better in early morning and proceeds to get worse in latter part of day. Not sure if getting a newer phone will make the problem better.

Used to be 5 in my house until a few weeks ago. Now reception wonders on a minute-by-minute basis between 5 and 0. Call quality went way down, disconnecting me often. Called AT&T but they said 4-6 weeks to check out the area.
