I've had Verizon for many years and never really had a problem with distorted or dropped calls until March 2010. I've done the Customer Service and Technical Support thing numerous times. I was told that a tower in Riverside was affecting service from Anaheim to Lancaster; I know that there are many towers out there, but this is what I was told. The technician wrote up a trouble ticket and Verizon sent a team to work on the problem. I have been told now that my ticket has been closed and it is what it is, service-wise. Prior to March, we had no problems using Verizon anywhere in the Inland Empire, even in our house. Today, if I try to use it in my house, I average about 6 dropped calls per conversation. If I am lucky enough to not get dropped, the reception is so poor that I live their commerical, constantly saying, "Can you hear me now?" Needless to say, I will be changing service as soon as I can decide which one will replace Verizon.
