The worst of any major carrier (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint). The only positive is unlimited data. Calls being dropped is common, internet is very slow. NETFLIX freezes due to poor service, marketing unlimited data can only take you so far when the service you buy is unavailable or unreliable most times. If you get stationed at China Lake, do not get T-Mobile or Sprint.

Good reception in town. On 395 thru Garlock Rd.reception becomes spotty, but so does ATT. Overall perty well satisified with Verizon's service.

Ok I am bored and have no life so I'll leave a comment... .Wow, I have just ended my never ending contract with Verizon because their reception here in Ridgecrest Ca is HORRIBLE! I just switched to Cingular and I have The Nokia Flip Camera Phone... the 6102i or something... anyways I always have full service in town and even in Inyokern I can still keep 3 to 4 bars and talk without dropping the call. If you have service problems with Cingular though I have noticed that LG and Moto's are bad allover for reception but I'll tell you Nokia is the far best! Chris

I do not recommend anyone in Ridgecrest wasting their money on Verizon Wireless. I have to drive almost completely ouit of town to get below average reception only to get upset when the call cannot get through or is dropped almost immediately after it connects.

Reception in Ridgecrest is really bad. I can receive voice mails which I have to check using a different phone. I can also receive txt messages but it is a hassle trying to get enough reception to reply to them. I used to have good-perfect reception until about 6 months ago. What's funny is a Verizon Wireless store just opened up in town recently. How do they expect to sell any phones when they hardly have any reception at all?

When I had a Motorola V220, reception was terrible. I switched to Nokia 6102 and no problem. Even decent receptin on fringe areas. The carriers should tell customers which phone has the best reception for the area.

I have had Verizon Wireless for a few years now and have been pretty happy. But here in Ridgecrest California, the service is horible. I have called Verizon but they just keep saying "we are always adding new towers" but they seem to forget about this place. So if you have Verizon Wireless, call them and tell them to add stronger coverage here. If they dont I am switchung to Cingular when my contract is up in a few months.

Reception gets upto 3 outside all along the 2 blocks of Garis. Inside a stucco chickenwire house reception drops to almost unusable. Other parts of town get 3 to 5 bars.
