Over the years I have had service from most of the majaor carriers. Of those, Sprint (3-4 Bars) and Verizon (5 Bars) are the only ones that work within my house. The Verizon service is so good within my home that it is usually the phone of choice over the land carrier.
Dropped signals in my South Natomas neighborhood. Same situation downtown where I work (3rd and N Sts, ZIP 95814) -- I've inadvertently picked up excess roaming charges when the phones have switched to analog. It's Sprint -- not the phones -- same situation previously with a Motorola and a Qualcom,
Sprint has had the good coverage in Sacramento compared to other providers. I was with Cingular until early 2003, and tried AT&T GSM in early 2003 also. Neither had anywhere close to the reception coverage that Sprint had in 2003, with the coverage being comparable to Verizon in this market. With Cingular, I couldn't make or recieve a call in my apartment or at work (Stockton and Y Street), making the phone and service less than useful. I recommend Sprint to my friends in Sacramento and in San Francisco. Of note, the phone does make a significant difference in reception, please read the reviews before buying.
