Cannot get any decent reception in my house or most of the surrounding area. I live in a newer developed area, but there are a lot of houses and condos that should attract a tower soon. Trying to answer my cell while insde my house is worthless. Didn't own a landline until moved into this area, but due to the service restrictions, had to get one.

I had Cingular for 2 years and lived in Mira Mesa. I can't count how many times it said 5 bars and the next thing I knew, the call dropped. Customer service was very apathetic also and told me I could drop for $175- thanks for the options guys. I had a Nokia, a Motorola V550, and then another Nokia phone, none of them changed the poor coverage and terrible Cingular service. I switched to Verizon, finally, and have had maybe 2 dropped calls in the area - vs hundreds with Cingular. My recommendation - use anyone by Cingular (oh, and don't buy the bs commercials)!

Considerind a switch to Singulair, we tested a friend's brand new KRAZR - no reception at home. In contrast, my 6 year old Verizon Morotola phone still works fine at the same location. Thus, we stay with Verizon.

Used to be fine, but Cingular reception has been getting worse and worse over the past few months; calls between wife and I frequently dropped, even with 4 or 5 bars. Reception spotty and inconsistent in La Mesa thru Mission Valley and into Downtown (I work on 4th floor, next to a window); often difficult to impossible to carry on a conversation. We both have current phones (hers a Motorola). Have made multiple calls to Cingular cust. serv. over the past few months for reception and voice mail issues, but they always tell me it must be a phone problem. After upgrading to the newest SIM card they then told me my phone had a known problem with that SIM card and they had to revert back to the older card (then why did they issue the new SIM card with my phone, if it was a known problem?). Am about ready to dump Cingular and their worsening reception and inept customer service (for failing to resolve the technical issues) for another carrier.

3 to 4 bars always. Great reception copared to VeriZon and T-Mobile friends that come over. Those guys get reception outside and none in the house. Cingular best in this area.
