I've had this service since the Airtouch days, before Verizon, it has always been great no matter where i.ve been. In Anzo Boreago, Yosemite Valley, Mission Beach, Vegas it doesn't matter. this 6255i Nokia is just the latest of many powerful Nokia phones I've had. Always works even in low signal strength areas. Maybe ten dropped calls over the past year. The Nokia phones and the Verizon service work great together.

I have to call from the street or from my window (right by my window). There is a canyon near by and that is probably why the reception is so bad. Even my friend who has Verizon says it is bad too, so the problem is not just Cingular.

It's silly really. I'm in my apartment (3rd floor, no major obstacles) and I get a decent signal. I walk down to my car and WALLAH - no signal. Strange? I don't talk and drive, so I can't comment on dropping calls. So far, I dropped one near Black Mountain Rd and Mira Mesa...

The entire neighborhood between Clairemont Mesa Blvd.and Tierrasanta Blvd.borders Mission Trails Regional Park. This is a 5,800 acre dead spot just east of Interstate 15. The nearest tower is 3.5 miles to the West and is seriously overtasked. There are also several ridges between here and there. Nobody can get good reception in our house. It doesn't matter what phone or what carrier. The sidewalk in front of the house has slightly better reception but 50-80% of all calls have problems. Imagine spending 15 minutes on hold with DMV only to loose the connection half way though explaining your problem. More than one innocent cell phone was "disciplined" against the wall before we realized how inadequate our coverage was.

There's word of a Sprint cell tower going up nearby( very close ). Does anybody know if having a cell tower( other carrier ) so close is going to effect: 1) current T-Mobile signal 2) phoneline signal 3) cable reception 4) Wifi signal 5) my 3rd eyeball ;-) Thanks.

Cingular's SD-area reception levels have been horrible as of late. All four Cingular phones receive disconnects, as well as limited reception 70% of the time. What't going on?

Luna, San Diego, CA 92117 Sat Aug 06, 2005

Since the start of 2005, the reception has gotten worse and worse. As of July / August, whenever I'm at home the person on the other end is deafened by "fax" noises. The reception, when working, is consistently 1-2 poles only. Crap. Total crap. Dear God get a new tower in Clairemont.

I love the Blackberry features and T-Mobile, however, the reception I am getting with this newly purchased phone is "on-and-off". People tell me they can't hear me and the phone sounds like it's under water. Works a little better with the headset or the wireless bluetooth, but for the most part it's hard to hear and I have to hold the earpiece with my hand (stuffing it deep into my ear) just to hear people. If I run the air conditioner in the car people say I sound like I am in a wind tunnel, and they ask me to call from a land line. Great for business! I am not sure what to do... it cost me an arm and a leg to get into this phone!

I normally have from 4-5 bars in this location. From time to time the signal drops to 1-2 bars; my half-baked theory relates it to the endless overhead planes taking off from Lindburgh. When load goes up on busy summer weekends though, all bets are off.

Frequent bounces from Analog to Digital Roam to No Service. Once in a while a very weak to very strong signal will make it in but if you move the phone, forget it. Service seems better at night here, but not by very much. Sprint officially commented - 1 mile outside service area with no plans to improve service for this area. Cingular GSM works best here - have also been told Verizon looks promising.

I've had nothing but problems with Cingular since their merge with AT&T. Customer service has been less than helpful with their promises of improvements in coverage.

I get good reception at my home and in the area. The only time I really notice a drop in coverage is when I'm driving on Navajo towards College / Waring and on College towards the 8. My guess is that the Del Cerro hill blocks the reception. I used to work in Ocean Beach, and never had too much of a problem there, and now I work in Kearny Mesa and I'm good there too.

Had T mobile and Nokia 3650 for over a year and get excellent reception at home (carmel valley rd / 56) and work (UCSD) and in general all over San Diego, CA, and on various travels. Very happy with customer service as well. All the free phone deals with new activation haven't tempted me to switch to anotherr provider yet because T-Mobile service has been so good.
