My parents live here and dropped out of our family plan because they can't make calls to their kids from their house. Kind of defeats the purpose of the family plan!

Verizon is the only company that gets reception in my home. Friends have spotty reception with Sprint. No bars with Nextel. No bars with Cingular.

I have been with Verizon since they were called Airtouch and instead of improving reception it has been on a steady decline. Reception in Sierra Mesa is absolutly terrible!

I hate my phone, I hate Verizon and I just want to tell everyone, don't believe the hype about all new phones. Make sure your phone is tri-mode!

Hardly any signal and our house is sitting on hill only two miles from downtown San Diego! AT&T is the worst. I've beared with crappy service but my contract ran out today and I'm finally free. AT&T never works in San Diego and forget about the North Shore in Hawaii.

Many dropped calls in both locations. Can't make or receive calls from my apartment in Normal Heights, San Diego. It will switch over to Cingular and it does o.k. but not for long. I have heard that AT&T and Cingular are merging, when and will it be better? It has to be the service provider, all the brand of phones that I've used can't be the problem!

Reception on AT&T GSM here is terrible. My phone also works on TDMA, and that's wildy random - sometimes 1 bar, sometimes 4. Usually 1 or 2. Think it might be the phone? I can manually select networks on the phone, and due to roaming agreement, I can manually pick up Cingular GSM (or the phone does it itself when AT&T signal gets so bad the phone can't pick it up at all.) Whee, 4 bars on Cingular's net! Too bad the phone switches itself back to AT&T after awhile. I'm out of contract now... will probably switch to T-mobile (since they're on Cingular's network and Cingular is moving its customers to AT&T's network starting next year... hope Cingular improves the network, but I wouldn't count on it). My general experience with AT&T GSM in San Diego and while traveling in the US is that there's good signal in commercial areas, but once you drive to a residential area, forget it.

Very poor reception at home in Carmel Valley. Also poor at work in Torrey Pines area. Will try switching to AT&T's GSM service first, then Verizon if that doesn't work, since friends have had better luck with Verizon in my area.

I get quite a few dropped calls, system busy signals, call failure when trying to dial and answer. Overall I would say Verizon is a very poor provider no matter how they rate with consumer reports and JD powers. I had ATT GSM before and will most certainly go back when my contract expires. They offered MUCH better service.

I just switched to the Nokia 6820 from the Motorola T-720. The reception in my house improved noticebly. I used to have many dropped calls and times when I had no service with the Motorola T-720. With the Nokia, I'm much more satisfied. I think it's a combination of the phone and the fact that AT&T and Cingular are now sharing towers.
