I can't make a normal call. I have to call at least 5 times for 1 conversation. All my friend are upset I can loose the reception from 5 to 10 times or more in 1 conversation. I'm really disappointed with ATT it's the worst reception I have never had in my life. I have been using cellphone for 15 years. I'm fed up with ATT it's the worst reception ever.

T-Mobile

T-mobile signal coverage in NAS Coronado Base is poor to non-existent, especially indoors. Dropped calls, poor connections, missed calls, the works. Absolutely no signal in my work. Why is T-Mobile allowed to sell their phone / services on Naval Base and they do not have a tower around here to support that service? I can't wait for my contract to be up with them.

Att service in my area is horrible. Even had to buy their Microcell but that is not compatible with the iPhone 4S yet, they say they are still working on software compatibility issue. I am switching carriers today.

Verizon

Over the last 6-8 months reception at my home has progressively gotten worse! At this moment my phone antenna icon shows the Blue "3G" symbol only... the incoming / outgoing signal arrows are gray, as well as the signal icon for the antenna...

Consistent lack of service anywhere on North Island. Frequent dropped calls. If there is service, chances are it won't be 3G. I suspect the terrible service is due to a lack of cell phone towers and ineptitude by AT&T.

I've been an ATT customer for several years with no coverage issues. For the last yr I have experienced dropped calls or can't even make a call or send texts in the North Park area and in my home in North Park. ATT told us that the attenea on my 3gs phone was not functioning because it is common with the phone after 2 years. So we got 2 NEW iphone 4s 3 weeks ago and STILL are having problems. They said that according to "their" coverage maps we are getting good reception. The rip off is that they are trying to sell us a mircotower for $199 to use in our home! I'd rather pay a $2 convienience fee on line fee at Verizon if it meant that I could use my iphone in my neighborhood.

Cricket

While Cricket has the best rates for no-contract, unlimited calling and data transfer, I'm unimpressed with the signal. (I have an Ascend 2, with 3G coverage.) Texting is very reliable, but it's next to impossible to actually talk on the phone in the Adams Ave. / Normal Heights area without the call dropping at least a couple of times. And no matter where I am in San Diego, the signal never seems to be super strong. I'm giving Cricket a chance but am underwhelmed so far. Perhaps an upgrade to 4G will be in order in the near future.

Sprint

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Arizona St. | Lincoln Ave., San Diego, CA 92104 |

I get good reception in and around my house. Good voice connectivity and no dropped calls. However the 3g speeds are laughable. On a typically weekday night, I'll have 4-5 bars of reception, yet the 3g speeds will be 50-100k. It's barely enough to stream pandora (and still skips sometimes) I think because its because the closest Sprint Cell tower on 39th st that all Sprint users in the area connect to is oversubscribed. Voice always has priority, so that's why the voice calls are good, but the 3g / internet service is barely usable. I called Sprint and asked them to bolster that cell tower but the guy said its not on their "list" to get upgraded. I need to find a way to get them to upgrade it / add more capacity. One other thing, very early in the morning, I am able to get 1.1megabits over Sprint 3g, but that's only because not many people are using and saturating the network at that time.

Verizon

4 Out of 5 (4 stars) | Adams Ave. | Marlborough, San Diego, CA 92116 |

Just switched to Verizon last week. It's perfect so far. I can get calls in my bedroom where I've never (with Sprint or AT&T over the last eight years) gotten reception. I can drive up and down Marlborough without dropping calls for the first time. If you live in Kensington, I recommend Verizon.
