I have always been satisfied with Verizon in San Diego. The network has been solid wherever I have lived in SD or where I travel around the country. My Blackberry is over 2 years old and I can't get a replacement battery from Verizon. I have been looking lately at AT&T for the iPhone, but the reviews of their network are alarming. I hear the earliest Verizon may carry the iPhone is 2011. May have to call Blackberry for a battery and wait another year; to bad.

I travel a lot on State Route 94 from Rancho San Diego to Campo, California. There are a few dead spots along the trip, but Verizon gets better reception then my AT&T or Sprint phones.

Years ago while living in Mission Valley my carrier was AT&T. I switched to Cingular after no longer wanting to deal with the dropped calls and horrible reception and the difference was amazing--night and day! When I moved to University Heights Cingular service was still outstanding. THEN AT&T bought up Cingular and somehow within a few months time service went down the toilet. Recently I moved to Fashion Hills area and as with Mission Valley AT&T service is practically non-existent. Love the Cingular roll-over minutes legacy, but will have to find an alternative.

I got one bar of service until I installed a cell repeater and now I get 4, if you are going to get coverage here (from any carrier although Verizon was still a bar or two better than AT&T) you need to buy a cell repeater

After several (20+) conversations and complaints to AT&T, I'm going to have switch providers. The coverage fluctuates from 4 bars to no bars at any given time of day. Dropped calls are the rule not the exception. Was thinking about a cell signal booster but there are no promises made by manufacturers for success. AT&T's final word was they don't promise coverage in all areas. I'll miss my iphone!

No reception inside buildings most of the time. Have to wander around outside until catching a signal and call quality is poor when I finally get through.

The ONLY way to make AT&T work in San Diego is to hack your phone and force it to use Enhanced Full Rate. Otherwise, you get crappy, distorted calls that sound as if they're coming from Mars. AT&T has always been horrible and everything the company touches turns to junk. Blame it on the CEO and board of directors who get paid a lot to run a cheapskate outfit where the customers are screwed.

The situation with the iPhone and AT&T is obscene. Dropped calls even though there is 5 bars represents an obviously overtaxed network that is unable to keep up with demand. The run around you get from both sides is equally obscene. The nerve of anyone from AT&T that tries to imply that there is "good coverage in your area and there shouldn't be any problems" is a sociopath. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. enough.

Phone works fine right outside my door, but inside I get nothing. I have had this happen with Verizon phones too. The only service that works really well in my area is Sprint and Cricket. So you KNOW I switched. :)

I never seem to have reception in this neighborhood; I can't even make calls and if they do get through, the quality is awful, broken convos and then call dropped. I'm sick of it. I am willing to end my contract with AT&T and go to Verizon.

AT&T coverage everywhere else is spotty at best, but here in my parent's condo it's unusually strong. When I was with Verizon it was hard for me to get a signal going here, but AT&T has been surprisingly reliable.
