I can get calls if I am next to or close to the window, but if I go to my kitchen, bedroom, and anywhere else in the apartment, I get no signal, and the call gets dropped.
For the past 3 years I have had perfect reception at home until about 3 weeks ago when my phone kept dropping call. I since have got a new phone (treo 700p) and the calls continue to be dropped. Verison says this has always been a trouble area which makes no sense because of the past 3 years of perfect reception. I have no idea what's happening.
Verizon's coverage is very good in San Diego. I RARELY drop calls. I live in Linda Vista and work in Point Loma, party downtown and in OB, PB, LaJolla, and Solana Beach. No problems at all.
I constantly get dropped calls not only in my home but even walking around outside and around the neighborhood. Sprint has been no help what so ever. The only way our phone works is if it is in roaming, but that charges us minutes. We have been with Sprint with 4 years now and we will have to drop them if this continues... it's sad. My family has the Nextel Walkie talkies and they had perfect reception here though, and that is sprint. So we might try to change phones first. Hopefully it improves.
Zero to 2 bars. Updated roaming online and software in the store with no change. Calls break up and drop ALL THE TIME! We have 4 phones. Tested on all of them, some brand new. Verizon claims cell tower signal is good for my location and recommends standing outside my house (doesn't make a differnece) or spending $400.00 for an amplifier solution! My days of 2 year contracts are over.
Ever since "Cingular became the new AT&T", I have had terrible reception. I'll manage 2, maybe 3 bars outside my home. Once inside, I can barely manage 1 bar. Call quality is poor and there are many times when my current calls will go dead for a few seconds. It baffles me because down the street near Rancho Bernardo Rd and Camino San Bernardo, I have excellent 3G coverage and signal strength.
Reception has been extremely poor throughout the Western US. Weak signals and dropped calls have made the service virtually unusable in a business context. Much older phone on Verizon still works perfectly.
My experience with cricket in San Diego (north park, north county, ucsd) was shockingly terrible, despite my research beforehand on dead zones and overall quality in other markets. Additionally, Customer service is shockingly bad. Although they admit they owe me $430 refund on both phone and 1-month service which I didn't owe them (1-month free trial), 5 months later I have not seen a penny from them. They are a joke and should be sued for incompetence. Manager hides in back of store to avoid customer complaints. The connection is often bad (voice interruptions, dropped calls) Cannot receive text messages outside 619 area code. Cannot send images via email. Cannot receive phone calls or text messages outside area code. Travel Time extends only range of phone – all other communication not available. Advertising: “Anywhere anytime unlimited” false advertising! I had to pay an extra 15$ rider to be authorized to make phone calls outside my area code, and most of these phone calls would not go through.
3 out of 3 bars on my model. Was on Cingular / AT&T and their predecessors. Coverage deteriorated during one of the sell-offs (people in the industry advised me that towers were sold off to sweeten the deal) - whenever I asked someone what carrier they had noting that they were talking easily in a building while I had to step outside, the answer was always Verizon. I switched and have been satisfied ever since, in all parts of the West Coast and Hawaii when travelling..
