Bars jump from 1 to 5, depending on where you stand. Makes no sense. Agravating when trying to have a conversation.

It's silly really. I'm in my apartment (3rd floor, no major obstacles) and I get a decent signal. I walk down to my car and WALLAH - no signal. Strange? I don't talk and drive, so I can't comment on dropping calls. So far, I dropped one near Black Mountain Rd and Mira Mesa...

occasionally the signal will drop out completely but for the most part... the reception is pretty good out here in the "ghetto" :)

Weak reception at home. Dead spot on the hill near Miramar Overlook Park, coming from Spring Canyon on Scripps Ranch Blvd, until you get close to the I15 on ramps.

I get good reception at my home and in the area. The only time I really notice a drop in coverage is when I'm driving on Navajo towards College / Waring and on College towards the 8. My guess is that the Del Cerro hill blocks the reception. I used to work in Ocean Beach, and never had too much of a problem there, and now I work in Kearny Mesa and I'm good there too.

Never had any dropped calls. Hate Sprint though, bad customer service, so I am thinking of switching to Cingluar. Thinking twice after reading the reviews here :o) Verizon maybe?! I don’t know... .

Nextel provides adequate service and if you have coverage can be reliable. They've been "planning" coverage to the Scripps Ranch area for over 5 years and they've made no progress. This is a business line, and I've relocated my "office" but at least they don't charge to forward calls. Aside from the holes in coverage, if I have a signal reception is good and I rarely drop calls. I travel around the country and always have coverage in (business) urban areas.

Contrary to a previous user's review, Verizon in my home in Tierrasanta is perfect. I don't get full bars, but I never get dropped calls and always have service. The voice quality is excellent. Don't blame the service... blame the phone.

ATT Wireless has now been bought up by Cingular and so any customer that was ATT is now Cingular. The service has not changed that much for me. Any time I'm on Del Mar Hts Rd or Carmel Country Rd or the entrance / exit ramps to the 56 at Carmel Valley road, all of these places I have spotty and shakey coverage. 50% of the time I will drop calls in all of these areas. My phone was 300 bucks and I am on the ATT / Cingular GSM service and still, all these dropped calls or calls that go to vmail automatically. Better than Sprint though, tried them for years to no avail in this area. I think "average" in this area means dropping alot of calls.
