I have excellent service with Nextel obviously it will drop calls quite frequently in some areas but other major carriers I've had have the same problem in most areas of the city. I'm not sure if it's 3G iDEN or not but the web sure is fast as hell and teathering for a computer works just fine. Sometimes on a low signal texts will send slow. But with iDEN it uses a data connection to send text messages so web doesn't go very fast without a strong signal so that's to be expected but overall great service. Loving Nextel!

I'm on 2nd floor of apartment. So this might be factor. Also constant overcast throughout the year.

NEXTEL excellent, swear by it beats out any provider in the city of San Francisco, highly recommended.

I get perfect reception in my neighborhood (8th and Judah)... but for some reason Nextel drops calls around UCSF and Cole Valley. Also, horrible coverage inside buildings in the Castro (even though sidewalk and street reception is good there). Weird.

I get generally good reception with Nextel all over San Francisco and the East Bay except in the Oakland Berkeley Hills. There are a few dead spots but mostly it just works. Marin County is another story. Outside of the Hwy. 101 corridor it's mostly no service.

I've been using this phone for almost 4 years and have never dropped a call anywhere in the SF bay area. Works great in Europe and Asia. Intermittent in the Australian outback, but worked just fine in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaid.

Inside my house it's great. It's actually great everywhere! Nextel is great.

I've had Nextel for a couple years now. No problems at all in Noe Valley.
