trying to switch to Credo. Sprint has never worked well in my apartment in Noe Valley. Now I am trying out the Hero HTC with Credo and it works fine. But the phone is driving me crazy with all of it's apps. and my hands are too big for the tiny touch key board! But sound is very clear.

If i'm lucky, i'll get one or two bars of reception on campus. This is the one place where I need a phone to work ALL the time for me, but it doesn't. Even my ATT phone had very crappy reception. Only T-Mobile and Verizon had reception that was good.

I've been working around here for about a month now. I can receive calls for the most part, but sometimes my reception is terrible and I miss calls. Txt messages go through regardless. Sometimes it takes a minute for service to kick in. Overall the phone is a problem in itself. Add the reception issue and this experience becomes irritating enough to consider swictching coverage.

I always have good service in the city. When it comes to customer service, they are average. The main thing is I dont get dropped calls like I used to on ATT. I have thrown two phones out of the car window when I had ATT, it was getting too expensive to have my calls dropped every 5 minutes. Waiting for the Palm Pre and staying with ATT. If Verizon had the Iphone, I would move to them.

No reception at all in my apartment, or at best calls are dropped after a few moments. Reception is patchy on 20th between Guerrero and Dolores, and even on Guerrero between 19th and 20th. There's no reason I should have to walk a block and a half to have an uninterrupted conversation, without being dropped or cut off. Had a Sanyo phone prior to the Blackberry, and had similar problems.

Service in my apartment (Castro and Cesar Chavez) sucks. Only two rooms that even have a chance, and these still frequently drop. Usually have to stand in one spot near window where bars fluctuate rapidly between one and three, and not move at all. Have to go outside for important or uninterrupted phone calls. Also basically no service for a few blocks on Diamond Heights. Had the phone "updated" but this helped not at all. Most of the rest of Noe Valley and the city are usually okay, but reception is often bad, so that I have to ask people to repeat themselves.

Up at the top of the hill on the west side. Reception is really bad on the east side of my condo, and slightly better on the west. I drop calls about 50% of the time. The only thing that seams to work is to stand on the back deck and not move (west facing deck). Then there are just periods of incomprehension rather than altogether disconnecting. I'd switch carriers in a heartbeat if there was one that worked better.

I called Sprint and they looked up my account. They said that they could update my telephone. I called back in a half hour and they gave me a number to call. My phone was updated and has NOT dropped a call ever since. I'm keeping my Sprint. I didn't even know that you could have your phone updated. If your phone is dropping calls, call customer service and Sprint will help you out.

It's not bad compared to where I used to live. I can always make and recieve calls. I'm better at the front of the house than in the back. Sometimes I will get 4 bars, but mostly I get a solid 3. I can hear callers fine, but many people tell me that I fade in and out. Customer Service SUCKS - they told me they cannot guarantee service INSIDE a structure. Are you serious? My contract is almost up and I may stick with them seeing that Cingular GSM is getting poor ratings and Verizon refuses to offer 7PM nights.

It does fade when you get up into the mountains, or off the major roads in the wine country, but very few complaints about dropped calls or missing coverage in my day-to-day life, even indoors - phone even works in many elevators! Was thinking of switching to a GSM carrier for better phone selection, but having second thoughts after reading the reviews here.

I thought I had REALLY bad service with Sprint until I read all the other reviews of other services! Maybe I'll stick to Sprint. 95% or more of the time I have no problem making or getting calls and they sound good. It's that the dead spots are just plain weird. Within 10 feet of any BART station (above ground within 10 feet) I get no coverage or I'm on analog roam. There are also many other odd spots like that where I get nothing or analog roam and if I step 10 feet away I get full digital. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to where the spots are. There are several downtown. Also I get pretty much 0 coverage outside of cities. If I'm on the freeway at all, or in wine country anywhere, I get nothing or analog roam. I stood out in the middle of the road once to make a call from a winery. But, the phone works great in LA and Honolulu. It's strange. Customer service is pretty good. No complaints. Maybe I'll stick with Sprint. If the place I'm standing is dead at least I can walk 10 feet and get a signal!

I have had Sprint PCs for almost 2 years and every single time I an anywhere around Pine Street, I drop calls (no bars) Going up Leavenworth, turing left onto Pine St. it drops. Going down Laguna to California to Gough turning right heading down to Pine St, drop calls from California all the way to Geary St. Live on Laguna and have poor reception in my apartment, in the garage, in the lobby. Also, when coming across the Bay Bridge, drop calls if I am on the right hand side of the Upper Deck past the tunnel but usually can hold onto the calls if on the left hand side of the Upper Deck. Lower Deck is sketchy. Seems like East Bay coverage is better than SF overall, but haven't tried all over the East Bay.

I get perfect coverage all over the City and in Palo Alto, where I commute every day. Sprint may not be the sexiest carrier, but they have very good coverage.

Can rarely make / receive any calls on this part of the island. The only hope is to do so outside or by walking around the island till you find a place where the signal is favorable. Unfortunately, Sprint seems wholly unaware of Treasure Island's existance when you try to call and find out whether they have any plans for any towers on either Treasure Island or Yerba Buena Island at any point. Unfortunately, it seems most carriers are not much better on Treasure Island...

Sprint used to work well all over my home and in most of S.F. Now I routinely get several bars of reception but when I try to place a call I get "No Service". I also get dropped in the middle of calls. Worse, it seems that the Treo does not take well to these "No Service" problems: my phone freezes most of the time a call drops and occasionally crashes. This all seems to have gotten worse in the last month or two. I wonder if it has something to do with the Sprint / Nextel merger?

Very intermittent service with Sprint at this location. Usually no connection, and if you are lucky enough to get one or two bars, they disappear either before your call goes through, or within the first 30 seconds of the call. This means you really can't take advantage of Sprint's "free included nationwide long distance calling feature" because you can't make any calls from home. Also, no calls ever come through to this location, and people have shown me (on their own phones' call logs) that they have called, but either have gotten no voicemail or a recording that there is no service (as if I have cancelled my service). Two years ago, Sprint promised there would be new towers and improved service in this area within a year, but their technicians now say (two years later) that there are NO PLANS TO BUILD ANY NEW TOWERS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. The problem lies foremost with Sprint (not building more towers and / or repeaters) and possibly the City of San Francisco (for not allowing construction of more towers / repeaters).

So far Sprint has the BEST reception out of all of these carriers. I thought Verizon has the best network? I thought wrong... What is this "Can you hear me now?" They can hear me if I have tons of dropped calls from Verizon. AT&T? Oh man the worst. All I can say is Thank you Cingular for taking over. But all I can say is that Sprint has the best reception out of all.

Reception works at one end of the apartment, but not the other. I live at Corona Heights and face out over Eureka Valley, Twin Peaks and Sutro Tower.

sprint service seems generally pretty good travelling all around the city for me and my old phone sph-200. it's perfect in my apartment at taraval / 40th. i'm disappointed to hear bad reviews of other carriers in my area, because i want to switch carriers to get a better deal and a new phone.

In general, Sprint's reception is not very good at Bernal Heights. Note that your calls will be disconnected at the corner of Cortland and Mission.
