Great reception. Ever since AT&T fired up their 850 Network and started roaming with Cingular I've had no complaints in this area. Prior to that, the coverage was abysmal. There is still one dead spot at Haight and Divisadero though.

I have had a great experience with my Nokia and AT&T TDMA. Travel 8 western states frequently with virtually no drops and consistent service. City, and Bay Area coverage is flawless. Customer no-service is terrible, though I haven't often needed it. Contract is up and thinking of switching as GSM plans look more generous. Salesperson in AT&T retail store advised against this. Think I'll stick with my undestructable phone (think Samsonite) and TDMA until I'm forced off.

Inside my apartment I receive anywhere from 0 to 3 bars. Out front on the sidewalk I get 4 bars. Since I started on GSM with AT&T the service has gotten better. There was zero reception indoors back in January 2004. What AT&T explained was the more GSM subscribers the more bandwidth was allocated.

No reception inside apartments on Grattan Street in Cole Valley. Poor reception in the street and on the sidewalk, once you are 20 feet from the street reception is completely gone.

I do not get AT&T service if you live in Noe Valley. I don't get Cingular either for that matter. I've gone through both services in the last week and have had to return my phone twice because of non-existant service. If I tried to call my land line the call would drop before the answering machine picked up about 75% of the time. I just got Verizon service today and I have maximum reception. The customer service rep told me that they have a tower at my intersection. AT&T told me the TDMA service would work better and they're probably right, but you're better off going Verizon for Noe Valley in my opinion. Apparently, Noe Valley voted against a measure to add cell-phone towers a little while back. So, it's not so much that AT&T and Cingular are completely incompetent (although they may still be) -- just that they're unable to actually put a tower in Noe Valley.

Under the Sutro Tower. Sometimes I can get out some times not at all. It is very inconsistant on the Castro and not at all usable in Noe Valley.

I started with AT&T in Sep 03. My first cell phone. They put me on their "new" GSM network, and the coverage was terrible! AT&T kept promising me that new antennas were going in and I should just be patient, but after several months there was no improvement. Finally, the only honest, helpful employee I've ever dealt with at AT&T told me that I should just switch back to an older phone and their digital network. He took care of all the details, and the minute I got onto their "old" network, all my connection problems vanished.

I live on the 101 side of Bernal Heights and get decent reception with Cingular. I guess like most other carriers, the signal can be strong and clear one minute and weak and crackly the next minute. I have not had any dropped calls yet. I'm starting to wonder if it is more of a phone issue than carrier. However, I get zero reception on Cortland Ave. Nothing.

Usaually great reception except at Twin Peaks Blvd and Clarendon... call just dies on you. Also, at the Olympic Club and Great Highway area... Hopefully, when AT&T merges with Cingular, the extra towers will improve this situation.

I have had Cingular, T-Mobile. AT&T (the worst), Nextel, Verizon (can you hear me? NO) and now I have Sprint PCS. Pretty much I've had a taste of all the phone carriers. So far Sprint has the BEST reception out of all of these carriers. I thought Verizon has the best network? I thought wrong... What is this "Can you hear me now?" They can hear me if I have tons of dropped calls from Verizon. AT&T? Oh man the worst. All I can say is Thank you Cingular for taking over. But all I can say is that Sprint has the best reception out of all.
