I get good reception at home, I lie on the sofa and surf the web for hours. Voice calls sound good.

Switched to Sprint from Verizon, where I could not make calls from home or in the Castro district. Sprint has worked well for me in most of the city. I also commute to Walnut Creek each day, and reception is good the entire route.

Sprint has been steadily getting better in San Francisco, and I've had them for 4 years now. Still the occasional dropped call from my house in TI, otherwise no complaints at all.

Get three bars in building and 4 outside-seem to get reasonable reception everywhere in a several block radius. Rarely is no reception a problem

Best service in the city, very few dead zones! As of the date of review, go with Verizon!

Our flat has a line-of-sight view to Sutro tower, which must help... . I work on the Presidio and have found coverage fairly spotty there.

Had AT&T (Nokia 6820) with Average reception, but after the Cingular merger, reception dropped to Poor. Dropped calls every day, late text messages, often failed to receive calls. Verizon has been much better at home and around the Peninsula.

Had AT&T; switched phones which meant switching to Cingular. First V551 sucked with reception (1-3 bars), exchanged to another V551 phone per Cingular rep's advise. Didn't help, still had dropped calls / no reception (1-3 bars) ALL over the City. Did online research, but finally called customer service, they sent out a troubleshoot and found the SIM card lacked updated info and was only accessing Cingular towers and no AT&T towers; SIM card update would not correct this issue, though. He suggested a new SIM card. So, went into a different Cingular store and got SIM card changed and now have 4-5 bars continuously.
