I'm with Verizone for over 10 years and changed over 7 phones. I'm having a very bad signals for the San Jose (95148) Evergreen area. Drop calls, one to zero bar, echo..etc you name it. Verizon never return my call or email to help. I felt that I'm living over a radiation zone. I'm ready to make a change and challeng any carrier who's can get my phone signals better. Constant missed and dropped calls in our home. No bars, no 3G for the majority of the time. (Note: We are moving from Southern California where I had never had a missed call with Verizon in the 3 years I've owned the phone.) Updating roaming had no affect. Once outside the Villages, very good reception returns.

Slow Internet. Do not receive some text or calls. also does not send text.

I am lucky to get 2 bars near the school. Verizon needs to change this! Other AT&T users are getting 4 bars, while us Verizon users are stuck with 1. Not to mention, we are paying more money for our service! Ridiculous!

It's all good until walk thru the front door. Then my phone becomes a wifi paper weight. I get better coverage at my wife's grandparents in Merlin, OR! Can you say BFE, lol!

For years I'd get between one and two bars. But recently its between 0 and 1 bar. I live in a two story home in the evergreen foothills. Nothing obstructs my view of the valley. Yet in an upstairs room, facing the valley, I get little or no signal. A while back I heard they might put a tower at or near Evergreen High School. C'mon Verizon, lets get moving with that tower. And for the record, AT&T's coverege here is worse.

4-5 months ago reception in this area was decent. For what ever reason it's not good anymore. Can't talk on the cell phone and I have a 3 phone family plan and all 3 phones are useless in my house.

Initially the cell signal strength was good (i.e. 3 of 5 "bars" on my signal strength display, few dropped calls and no restriction on where I could be in my hlme) but for the last 4-5 months the signal strength has deteriorated significantly. Now 95% of my cell calls are terminated within 60 seconds and I have a single bar on my display I am not sure if this deridation in service is the result of cell issues like antenna alignment, RF power / RSL sensitivity degridation, or hardware modifications, but the situation is so bad that I would switch providers to get reasonable home coverage.

Verizon appears to be the most reliable carrier in East San Jose. I used to have Sprint -- I would have to sit motionless at a bus stop outside my house and point my phone in a specific direction to get reception. I switched to Verizon and have no problems making calls from anywhere in the Bay Area, Southern California, or Vegas.

fair coverage, but consistent dropped calls for no reason. the phone just goes quiet, doesn't even get a bad reception first.

I used to have Cingular (before merger with AT&T) and reception was horrible - really, terrible. I now have Verizon and the call clarity is amazingly clear. I've yet to find a dead zone where I don't have coverage. I wouldn't mind getting an iPhone but there's no way I want to switch my provider now as Verizon are care-free (albeit a bit expensive for data plans).

gets 3 out of 4 bars. reception not bad but sometimes drop for no reason. also sometimes get voicemail late.

I find I talk to myself more than actually talking to the person who I'm trying to talk to. Getting irritated of repeating myself 2+ times.

No reception at all. An entire neighborhood with out coverage. I'ts unbelievable! No reception- same deal with all providers. McKean tower didn't help the other side of the hill at all!

If I'm on the east side of the house there is OK reception. If I walk around there is a good chance my call will drop. Varies from 0-2 bars.

Great reception for Verizon on two phones I used so far in the last two years. Works great inside the house as well as outside.

Verizon has Placed a tower in operation on the Foothill Presbyterian Church Grounds. It went into service the end of December 2006.. This tower is planned to have Cingular / ATnT on the same pole, when Cingular get around to installing it. There is also a T-Moble tower at the same address.

A brand new cell tower just went in at McKean and Fortini at the end of April 2007! The entire south Almaden valley now has great reception. Way to go Verizon!

Verizon has great reception for me around 1st and Julian area. I saw T Mobile's coverage map and it looks like service is spotty around parts of downtown. I don't know much about Cingular though. Verizon's price is higher than the rest, but, I can't afford to have no coverage (I have no wired line).

May get 1 or 2 bars, but when I make a call, it either gets dropped or the other person can't hear me.

I have a couple of 'hot spots' in my house where I can use my cell phone occasionally, but mostly it's useless. If I really need to make a call, I go to the Save Mart parking lot at McKee and Toyon where I get some reception. Kinda reminds me of what they said about communications in the old Soviet Union, except, thankfully, we don't need to keep the tub running for privacy. Hey, just because we pay $40- + / month, who says the service has to work?

I've had my cell service with Verizon since they were GTE and it has always been great. Before Gte I had Cellular One, later became ATT Wireless which is now Cingular. I was not happy because at the time they didn't offer a national plan where roaming calls were including. ATT Wireless didn't suit my needs, I finished my contract and switched phone companies. It's that simple! I think all cell phone companies are great because they meet individual needs but indeed not every company is the same. People have to have in mind that cell phones are not 100% reliable, regardless of the company, and that is just the bottom line. I love my Cell phone as well as Verizon, they have great customer service (very friendly). I take my phone everywhere I go including when I go on vacation!

I get good reception everywhere but Good Samaritan Hospital (work). People with Cingular get reception there. If Verizon could get coverage there I'd stay with them.

Nearly all calls are dropped. I've gone to using my cell phone as a rolodex - look up the number and call on a "real" phone.

My husband and I lose multiple calls everyday. The Verizon company has "replaced" his phone twice, come to find out they faked it. He has the original serial #. Customer service is awful and the amount of dropped calls is immense. Don't recommend the company at all. We're switching in November!

Strength fluctuates between 2 bars and none. Frequently dropped calls around my house outside. Have heard it called the Westgate Shadow.

I live by the Safeway near Lawrence and Stevens Creek. About 2 months ago my signal went to near nothng and my phone is effectively useless at home. Repeated calls to Verizon and switching phones did nothing. Get this... 2 months later they finally admit that they shut down the tower in our area. Considering this is what I suspected all along I think I might actually believe them. They said it should be fixed "shortly"... we'll see. I'm with Verizon because their coverage has generally been better than other carriers. I've never been impressed with their customer service.

I was with Cingular before but had to switch to Verizon because of bad reception with Cingular. Verizon is the only carrier that works perfect in my apartment. My friends with T-Mobile and Cingular had similar issues whenever they visit my place. So far Verizon never let me down. I am going to extend the contract with Verizon for another 2 yrs after my current contract period that ends in the next few weeks.

My AT&T didn't work on campus but not Verizon. I have no problem in almost all areas.

Never drop any calls have been with Verizon for 5 years now. always have service if theres reception problems its probably the phone.

Always good reception on several Verizon phones, esp the old Kyocera. But Ok with Samsung SCH-A670 and Motorola e815, also. However, with an early Sprint Samsung Uproar (1st MP3 phone), had to return it cause no signal at this location. :(

I used to have T-Mobile and it was great in my apartment. Now I have Verizon and it is so shady. Outside it is good, but in my bedroom it is horrible. I get 2 bars then one, then none, and I've never ever experienced dropped calls in my life. I'm glad that at th end of the semester, when I go home to New London, CT I have great service in my home area. Verizon is just not up to snuff in Campus Village Apartments.

The phone rings, but you can only use it on speakerphone or the reception drops and there goes the call. Sometimes the reception sucks and you can't use speakerphone either.

I get perfect reception but for some reason I get drop calls about 80% of times.

On a good day I get one bar. Some days I only get an analog signal. I have to go out in my front yard to have a marginal signal and the call drops most times. My wife has no problems with her Cingular phone at this location.

Verizon gives me reliable reception pretty much everywhere I go in the Bay Area (mostly West San Jose up to Palo Alto, down to Santa Cruz). I've noticed only two consistent deadspots: on Page Mill Rd.just north of 280, and just past the summit on hwy17 heading toward Santa Cruz.

0-1 bar dropped calls, no light of sight obstruction.

In 6 years have never been able to use cell phone in home. 1 bar-0 bar Drop calls every time. Works spradically around 3 block area.

Reception is good most of the time yet can vary.

Most of the time I get 2 bars. But many times throughout the day, my phone will lose coverage and go into network search.

Service has been good here for years; now it is terrible. Calls take forever to establish and often drop after a few seconds. It's bad on the highways, too. Time to change carriers, I guess.

The signal in my house is practiclly non existant depending on what time of day and what day its is there are days upstairs in my office I will have 2 bars other days nadaa and the part I dont get about 1 / 2 mile away there is a repeater tower that belong to Verizon I have a few friends that use Verizon and they have same problem in my house but once you walk out of the house its all good I guess my house dont like cell phones

Terrible reception for years. Logging a trouble ticket again with Verizon. Unsure if fire station next to Pearl Ave. library has anything to do with it.

The stretch from San Felipe to Silver Creek on Yerba Buena (somewhat hilly area), you are guaranteed to loose the call. No signal between silver creek and 101 (almost close to 101).

I used Sprint PCS and ATT TDMA in the past. Sprint almost always failed at my home. But at work and on the major highways, it worked decently. The quality of the call on the highways was pretty decent. With ATT TDMA, when I originally got it (over 2 years ago), was not that bad. At home, I was able to make and receive calls but calls get dropped quite often. I put up with it because of the contract. I got Verizon couple of months ago after seeing a friend of mine living in the same area be happy with it (except for the high price compare to the competition). In my case, I wasn't as lucky. I don't know if it is because of the phone model (Samsung a670) I am using, but the signal strength seem to fluctuate quite a bit. Sometimes, it I get 4 bars but in the same location a second later, I don't get any bars. This became a frustrating problem. I wish the guy in the Verizon ad check my neighborhood

Always full bars whereever I go. Compared it to 4 other companies with my family. Verizon is the only company that gets the best reception nationwide when we traveled.

Dropped calls when talking to other Verizon phones.

Verizon known to be better than any other service. I get full bars around my area when its a dead spot with other services especially inside the house. Cingular doesn't work in this major busy area what so ever.

I guess its because I live near the mountains, but reception is ok. It was worst when I had AT&T though. But other then that everywhere else I go I get good recpetion.

No problems, I get great recepetion everywhere around the Bay Area and in Tahoe.

Verizon rocks in my area ..Also i work in Scotts Valley and get full 5 bars. In general never had any problems with Verizon anywhere in the bay area.

Decent recpetion at home and work. Most phones at work don't get any reception at all. Great reception on all freeways and most places in the Bay Area. (Pennisula, East Bay, Contra Costa, San Jose).

Works even in the basement of a commercial building. No way that you can get Cingular, Sprint, and AT&T GSM coverage in the same area.
