This is in the Evergreen Valley. I got better reception with my old phone. When I upgraded to the V3, reception dropped. Also, this phone is worthless in a metal building and reception way down in a mall.

Cross the bridge just past Silver Oak Elementary heading south east on San Felipe, and like Clockwork, my cellphone starts beeping looking for a network. I have resorted to cutting off a wirehangar and fashioning rabbit ears in my home (it adds a bar or two but the kids get embarrased when I walk around with it in the malls) Wife says that her phone using the old ATT service is better.

Barely get one bar. Most of the time it's no reception and slightly 1. Lots of dropped calls. I used to have a Samsung phone (non-Vision) and it was the same. My friend has a Nokia 3585i, slightly better reception (at least 1 bar) most of the time but similar to my phone, it drops to 0 bars as well. Hers also has lots of dropped calls as well. Coverage out there with Sprint is *very* spotty. Once out on the road, reception is much better, but in this area in particular reception is terrible. It could be from the mountains as this was pre Sprint-Nextel merger. My cousin has Nextel and his reception wasn't great either. Although some friends claim that Cingular is better. This review is based on a 2004 visit to CA. The San Francisco area has good reception, though (city area and around Fisherman's wharf). Sprint customer service wasn't that great either when I got back to NYC and explained my problem. Discovered of course, that you can call Sprint through your phone (*4 and say 'Credit for a dropped call'), but you're only allowed 8 credits per month when in that week alone I was visiting I had more than 8 dropped calls! Then they tried to sell me their 'Roaming Plan' (wtf-?!), when I was already in roam on my visit there. Of course, my contract is finally up with Sprint and I plan on switching.

It was pretty good, but in the last month or so the signal has dropped. The phone will only work in certain places. Sometimes the network is busy.

Some calls are good. But others can be terrible. Not sure why such a swing from bad to good. Better by a window or outside. Building may have plaster, but should not have large amounts of cement.

Had ok reception since April 2005 when I started the service. Over the last 2 weeks, I've had no signal. Cingular keeps stonewalling me. I'm ready to bolt.

Awful no reception in Sleepy Creek area. Frustrating needs a signal tower here or close by. There are no signal improvements least 6 years of this area. The technology so old or maybe just money issue?

Often, at the start of the call, the reception will read 5 bars, but as soon as the conversation starts, the voice quality almost always degrades, often very severely. Then, when I look, the reception will have 1 bar or less. I have tested this with a Motorola V505 and a Nokia 3120. The problem is less frequent with the Nokia, but the symptoms are the same.

At best, I get 2 bars max. Mostly it is 1 bar and really bad reception. People on the other side always hear static from my cell phone. I am very dissappointed and frustrated with my phone service.

Upstairs window facing NE is the only chance of making a call. Even when connected, the call quality would be so bad that I could hardly carryon a meaningful conversation.

On a good day I get one bar. Some days I only get an analog signal. I have to go out in my front yard to have a marginal signal and the call drops most times. My wife has no problems with her Cingular phone at this location.

Verizon gives me reliable reception pretty much everywhere I go in the Bay Area (mostly West San Jose up to Palo Alto, down to Santa Cruz). I've noticed only two consistent deadspots: on Page Mill Rd.just north of 280, and just past the summit on hwy17 heading toward Santa Cruz.
