My cell phone doesn't work inside the apartment at all - nowhere on the first floor. I manage to get signal strenth of 2 bars on the third floor, but it fades off half the time. I miss all calls on my cell.

This area of San Jose is getting it's signal off the Cells located on the PGE tranmission Towers on 680 Between Mabury and Berryessa. Several cells are located on three towers in this area. If your not close to those towers the signal drops way off. This area is residential and has a lack of good cells. After I upgraded to a "850 freq" capable phone my service became usable in my neighborhood. All the new GSM phones that AT&T sells are 850 / 1900 phones.

The GSM signal is very deceptive. It fluctuates between one to three bars, and when calls are made they just got even worst. You could hear fade-away voice as if it is about to breaking up on you... terrible. Very shady and spotty services. On 680 freeway, the signal is sginificantly improved, but you still see the jumpiness in the signals. Don't ever signup for two years! If you are within this dead zone, please share your experience here.

Barely hear other party more than half of the time around the house. Noisy and full of static. It's better (with 3 bars) near the school zone, two blocks down. Otherwise, it's useless for a normal conversation.

Terrible reception here. Anywhere from nothing to one bar. We also have a Verizon account in our house and the reception is the same. Terrible! The only one that seems to work decently is Nextel. Go figure.

I have another Sprint phone, Samsung A500. Both phones get only one bar of reception. My friend has a camera Sprint phone, the Sanyo SCP-8100, which supposedly should recieve atleast 2 bars more than what my phone gets and in this area. He only gets 1 bar reception. Too many calls get dropped and I don't recommend Sprint in any neighboring areas in San Jose.

Horrible in Evergreen of SJ. Do not go with Sprint if you live anywhere in this area. It took them 3 months to fess up that it's a network problem.

I can get two bars in my 4th floor apartment, but normally just one. So when I call comes in (or I want to make a call), I generally have to move around the house to find a good spot. On the other hand, I don't miss any calls... I think being on the top floor helps in this case.

The new marketing blitz by AT&T about the number of reception bars above the heads of people trying to talk is a myth if happen to be anywhere on the Bollinger Rd. in San Jose. This also happens to be a Cupertino area as the North side of the road is in Cupertino.
