Had Verizon for 8 years and decided to try AT&T because it was a bit less expensive and I was tired of dropping a call or two everytime I went through Del Mar. Service is Terrible here and spotty all along the 5 corridor from the 5 / 805 split to Carlsbad. I drop an average of 8 to 10 calls a day driving this stretch of road. Going back to Verizon as soon as my contract is up

1 bar if I'm lucky. Even with a recent phone change. Verizon has been saying they are "working on it" for the last 2 years...

I think Verizon has a tower / antenna in the clock, in San Elijo Hills, I get several bars whiles standing in front of it. We live up the hill, however, and are blocked from a direct signal. I have 1 -2 bars at home, but even outside, my calls are dropped in a few minutes.

Must stand outside to avoid dropping every call. Can not move around inside home or calls dropped. Verizon says they'll allow me to leave without enforcing my contract due to known weaknesses in this area. I'm going to try Sprint.

Another San Elijo Hills resident wishing to comment here. Live part way up the hill, off Schoolhouse way. I suspect all San Elijo Residents are served by the tower you can see on the hillside. I believe this tower is overloaded. Apparently, it is owned by "American Towers, Inc." We have noticed poor call quality, dropped calls, and being unable to hear the person on the other end of the line at random times, although they typically state they can hear us fine. This problem occurs on both GSM phones from AT&T / Cingular, and CDMA Phones from Sprint. Service up until 2006 or so was excellent in the same location. Verizon experience is unknown at this location. In general- Phones randomly go in and out of roaming mode, and while stationary and sitting on a table will report decent amount of bars. Upon attempting to make a call, the signal will drop and it's basically a game of roulette as to what happens.

No bars at all. Called AT&T - says 4 new towers going up ASAP. Tried Verizon, no better. Tried Wi-Ex zBoost YX510 - Home cell phone signal booster - from Crutchfield, no help. Solution was to add home phone line, forward cell calls when at home.

I normally get 3 or 4 bars at home (out of 5, I think), but lately Sprint's service has tanked after the 4th of July. That and the random Roaming signal switchover when I should be bars-deep in coverage is making me consider changing carriers, despite the cancellation charge. I don't know what happened to Sprint / Nextel's network, but the quality has suffered over the past month.

Got a free phone with service; when I complained about poor reception to the dealer, he said it was because I had a cheap phone that I received poor reception. He also said that Nextel and Sprint had a "bad quarter" and there probably would not be any new towers soon in my area. I realize now, after reading other posts, that phone model probably has nothing to do with it.

I've had Verizon for years with fanatastic reception. I recently moved into the San Elijo Hills and I live up the mountain a bit. The development is new but the community has been established for over six years. I get a few bars 1-2, but can't get a call established or receive any. If I do get through, either the caller or I cannot hear each other and the call will be guarenteed to drop. Can you hear me now?

Very frustrating to not be able to conduct business on my cell phone near my home office. I've been waiting for 3 years and still no improvement. I'm changing carriers for this reason.

No reception at all. Frustrating. Two service carriers (we also have Sprint), and we get bad to no reception at all. I had an AT&T Cingular phone prior to the Sprint, and we got no coverage on that, either.

we have no bars in the house at all - sometimes a call will come through, but the people on the other end can't hear us talking - it's frustrating. I also have a Verizon phone for business, and I get NOTHING on that one.

Have used Verizon for years but, It is basically useless here at Lake San Marcos. Four years ago is wasn't good but now can't send / receive 99% of the time. Tech Support hasn't helped but don't know to change to.
