Sometimes calls or messages don't arrive on my phone, or the phone does not ring but there is a voicemail, etc. but overall good reception. Am on a hill with direct line of sight to cell phone towers in SB. Get 3 ev bars and 3 tv bars.

Verizon rep just left my house. There is no reception here. Bounces from 1 Bar to None, impossible to make or receive calls. The tech agent said, simply, to return my phones and cancel my plan. "Verizon is aware there are significant areas without coverage from Santa Barbara through Montecito to Summerland and Carpenteria. They are refunding my money. They say there are no plans for new towers, the only way to fix. The guy reminded me that no one wants the cell towers near them, but then they complain about no coverage. Point taken! I offered up my front yard. Insane. I get one bar with ATT, none with Verizon. Next up is Sprint, and I am worried.

My signal is very week but usually good enough for voice. My data connection frequently drops out, or falls to 1X bandwidth. The problem in Montecito is that the local property owners are resistant to any cell towers being put up.

Could barely get reception here. I literally had to stand on one foot with my hand up in the air just for the phone to get the time synced. The coverage maps, though, say I should be able to get Mobile Broadband. I'll give Verizon a pass this time, bu only because people with other carriers on the fishing boat I was on had no reception whatsoever.

All carriers are worthless where I live. Even on top of a hill we have bad coverage. And it's not the phone. I've gone through 7 or 8 phones in the past few years (including my wife's) and they all have the same issue.

It seems like almost all of West Montecito is poor. Westmont college has no reception as do the surrounding homes and those in the canyon.

I've gotten good reception all over the populated areas in and around Santa Barbara with Verizon for the last 5 years that I've used the service. (I rarely talk on the phone while driving, so can't comment on while-moving communications.) The only place I frequent that has weak reception is way back in the hills, near the Rancho Oso camping areas. Have been very happy with Verizon in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, and the Santa Ynez Valley.

There is nothing I hate more than having a nice dinner at Piatti's in Montecito and then trying to call our driver on the cell to come pick us up and not being able to connect! Fortunately, the hostess is more than happy to call our driver from the restaurant phone to come get us... She probably just wants to get rid of us! :-)

The reception will often start at 4 bars and then suddenly drop to 1 while standing in the same place. more than half my calls are dropped or just wont go through. And when they do go through the phone cuts in and out constantly. the Verizon service seems to work much better down town along state st. I'm considering looking for a better phone because none of the cell phone service providers seem to work particularly well in the Santa Barbara area.

Verizon's coverage all over Snata Barbara seems to be prety solid. They are the only carrier that provides reliable reception at my home near the referenced intersection. Although there does not appear to be any major buildings or topogrphy that would adversely affect cellular reception, there is a strange "hole" in the coverage of just about any network except Verizon in my neighborhood. I gave an "average" rating becasue that is how the signal is for the review location. My rating for Santa Barbara overall would be "Good".

Reception ranges from 0 to 4 bars. It is 4 bars if I am standing on the street, and usually 1 to 2 bars in my backyard, which is unobstructed. I occasionally do not receive or drop calls if I am in my back yard.
