Rock solid all over town including indoors. I also have a Cingular phone for work and the reception is very poor by comparison. I wonder though, how much the model of phone(or condition of the phone) has to do with an individual's reception experience? Some people report bad coverage with Verizon in San Jose area, but my experience has been great.

Inside wood-frame house, reception is usually 1-2 bars but reception drops to zero frequently, often every 3-10 minutes, requiring reconnection; it has not improved with ATT merger. Outside, same problem altho bars are more constant; calls still drop frequently. Cingular will not take a trouble report unless I provide part of the lead family-member's SSN which I don't want to know and shouldn't.

Reception in the highrise office building ranges from 1-4 bars, depending on which office or window. Reception out site is good.

Poor to no reception inside this 2nd floor apartment. The one or two spots in the apartment where I do get 1 bar are still not guaranteed spots, sometimes I won't get a bar even there... need to switch providers. I moved from Michigan where the T-Mobile reception was amazing... I guess things are different here.

AT&T / Cingular is great for me all over the bay area. I don't know why people don't get good reception in the bayarea. My advice: Get a good phone with both 850 and 1900 Mhz bands.

One bar indoors, couple of bars outdoors. Hasn't yet dropped a call outdoors. Frequently drops calls indoors.

A few dropped calls. Reception along 101 is passable. Sometimes half-duplex, sometimes echoish. Customer service varies widely. My main gripe is the persistent belief that they are changing contract terms during the contract periods without notifying the customers. Billing problems, etc.

Poor coverage, pathetic service, and constantly in denial that they have a major coverage problem. Learn a thing or two from countries outside the US when deploying a cellular network. Coverage FIRST! Then advertizing blitz. These guys have their head on backwards...
