Horrible reception in the Ocean Park area. Some days (like today) there is no reception at all! Have to walk a block outside to get any sort of signal. Do yourself a favor and get Verizon if in the SM area.

AT&T service is down. It is acknowledged to the Los Angeles area when you call in. I heard they were doing maintenance on some towers in the Santa Monica area.

We just recently moved and in our new building we have 0 reception, you pay a fortune of money for your cell and data package thru AT&T and end up with 0 reception. I'm going to get out of my contract with AT&T, because it is just an awful company. These people are thieves and all they want is your money, without resolving "the no reception" and the many dropped calls. I would not recommend this network to anyone.

I am in a 13th floor building and the quality cuts in and out regardless of the time of day or night. I cannot rely on AT&T cell reception for business or personal calls. I will definitely change to Sprint or Verizon in a next couple of months, moving to an Android. Dated, July 19, 2010

My service is horrible. 80% of my phone calls are dropped. Sometimes no service at all. It's really frustrating when you have an important call and you can't even talk. Like someone waiting outside for you and when they call it goes straight to your voicemail and you don't get the voicemail till an hour later! I don't know if it's my iPhone or the service. It sounds like every service is bad in Santa Monica! What do I get???

I get almost no reception at all in this neighborhood unless I go up to my roof. I have dropped calls daily--nearly every call over 5 minutes; I've started telling people on the phone that we will likely be disconnected, and that I will call them back if it happens. AT&T has told me that they have great service in the area, and have "no issue" with the towers, but they just have too many people trying to use the service. For some reason this is surprising to them. Idiots.

I have had excellent service with at&t. I have had them since 2008 after trying both Sprint and Verizon and having to deal with lame phones and lost service. I asked a rep to pull up their coverage map and they had towers on top of towers in the area and I get excellent reception all over la. Glad I switched. + my wife loves her blackberry but I am all about the iphone!

I pay $75 a month to AT&T, which they're apparently spending on commercials claiming they offer 3G service, instead of spending it on actually providing it. There's no reception here, period. I've never been able to complete a phone call in this area... within the first few seconds, the connection degrades to nothing and it's impossible to talk. I got suckered into a 2-year plan, a total of about $1800, for a phone that's basically a paperweight. I have no idea how AT&T gets away with this scam. Do NOT do "business" with them.

Worst cell phone reception ever. AT&T in LA is terrible. In my apartment I get 1 to 2 bars tops and dropped calls all the time. Needless to say there is no 3G. Outside, no improvments. I also work in Century City and the reception is terrible too. I'm going to start a facebook group to join everyone together who thinks that AT&T in LA sucks. With enough people, I'm sure we can get them to do something. Look for it soon and join.

Coverage was good until a week ago. Now all AT&T users at our company (about 12+) get no signal at all, and we're high up in a building in sight of the cell tower 2 blocks away. Interestingly, iPhone users with 3g or 3gs phones get 100% reception?!? WTF?

I hate AT&T. I've had nothing but trouble since transferring my landline # in 2004. 4 months of an incomplete port that took intervention by the CPUC before it was fixed. (They basically wanted to keep my # because it is an old original Lockheed-Martin # that apparently has some kind of value). Then I couldn't get service in Venice. They blamed it on my handset, which was replaced 4 times, SIM 3 times, battery 2 times. Turned out they just hadn't upgraded the towers and didn't want to say so. Ate my life, but was mobile to mobile with the BF, so stuck. Got the Samsung (373?) and finally no problems for a year, then moved to Santa Monica from Venice and NO SERVICE AT ALL. They just keep lying to me, spent 18 hours on the phone and in the store in the last month. Yesterday they sent me a free new Nokia to "better connect with the towers", cuz You know, I'm in their "best service area", so they just can't understand why I'm getting no service. The phone arrived with the battery plate jammed, so I had to take it to the store on Wilshire, where I was told that the new phone is on the EDGE system instead of 3G, that Santa Monica won't let them put up 3G towers, so the 3G phones mostly don't work. Screw AT&T, they don't EVER tell the truth. Does antbody have a working cell phone in Santa Monica, and if so, who"s your carrier. I live on 23rd near Ocean Park. Thanks.
