I have had excellent service with at&t. I have had them since 2008 after trying both Sprint and Verizon and having to deal with lame phones and lost service. I asked a rep to pull up their coverage map and they had towers on top of towers in the area and I get excellent reception all over la. Glad I switched. + my wife loves her blackberry but I am all about the iphone!

The signal has been pretty consistent. I always have atleast 4 bars wherever I go(indoor-outdoor): Mid wilshire, brentwood, westwood, midcity, hollywood, downtown LA, Long Beach, Redondo, Santa Monica, Century city, China town. However, I have noticed some dead spots in East Los Angeles Area( 90040)... but the phone typically connects with Verizon wireless when that happends(Interestingly enough Verizon customers dont have such options-its either there network covers u or your out of luck) Ive read a lot of issues pertaining to the ATT network in here. Ive actually looked into the issue before and concluded one thing: Their network is just beyond overloaded. The company is taking in more subscribers at a faster rate than the actual physical growth (addition-upgrade of their equipment) of their network. Its not an issue of SURFACE AREA COVERAGE.Theyve placed a lot of towers to cover the surface areas of the city. In fact, I think they have more towers in the city than any other carrier. Theyre equipment just cant handle the traffic stress. Verizon aswell is facing similar issue due to a different cause: FCC is coming down hard as far as spectrum effects to the public and has forced the company to actually take some towers down. All in all, Im actually pretty contend being in the third largest, in reference to number of subscribers(not physical network size), wireless network. My network is never congested-busy, great coverage, and best data service, in reference to quality, the common cunsumer has available.

Thank God for Sprint in L.A. It works well for me from Hollywood to Santa Monica and everywhere in between. There is a problem in Venice, but other than that - it's great!

I have been with T-Mobile at this location for 4 years now. At first I switched over to WI-FI using UMA exclusively to get better reception but in the past year Edge works just as well also. I would say reception with T-Mobile is very good- excellent.

Generally 3-4 bars at home with no dropped calls. Almost worth the high price. Just waiting for the iPhone to hit Verizon. Then I'll be happy.

I get solid reception pretty much everywhere I go in downtown Santa Monica. I would rate it a 5 but the 3g coverage is in and out, and I honestly don't notice a speed increase when searching google on 3g vs Edge.

I have pretty much tried all most every carrier over the last couple years - Verizon so far has been the best - AT&T doesn't work at my house - but does at the beach - Sprint you could not pay me to use - T-Mobile is very spotty.

I am in a 13th floor building and the quality cuts in and out regardless of the time of day or night. I cannot rely on AT&T cell reception for business or personal calls. I will definitely change to Sprint or Verizon in a next couple of months, moving to an Android. Dated, July 19, 2010
