Sometimes can get a voice call started but invariably drops. Text is normally okay. Have experienced this with over 10 phone models over several years. Worst point is on Hwy. 9 just west of Fruitvale.

AT&T Change Handset from LG CU500 to LG Trax. Same result. It works at unaccaptable level on dual mode but 2G mode has little better signal strength.

Constant drop outs during calls. I have had a Cingular account since September 05. Driving down 85 to Saratoga, the signal strength degrades. Turning off onto Saratoga Ave towards Big Basin Way, there is a dead spot along the way where the signal always died. Since AT&T bought Cingular two months ago, the reliability has dropped substantially in Saratoga. I can't imagine why, but now the phone is almost unusable. We have to now use a land line from our house in the village. It is that bad. Could this be different towers? Something has definitely changed. I am looking to switch carriers. Another thing: AT&T have changed the voice mail. Now I can only leave a 15 second message before it says message too long!

Even if I have a bar for a moment, I can't answer the phone or I will lose the call. My kids have Nokia phones. I think when they visit their phones work better. I am thinking about swithcing to Verizon and a Nokia phone.

Usually 1 or 2 bars inside the house. Reception depends on where I am inside the house, but usually much better outside. Up to 4-5 bars when outside or driving around the neighborhood.

Once I turn off Hwy. 9... DEAD! I can't beleive that I am unable to place / receive a call from home. (I get 5 bars 1 / 2 mile from home in the village.)

T-Mobile shares the network Cingular inhereted from PacBell Wireless. The reception is pretty bad, especially in buildings, and the further you get up into the hills, the more static you get. Once you go into a hill shadow, there's pretty much no hope.
