No coverage after I leave HWY 50 on Ponderosa - North Shingle Rd.(where we live) going north to Lotus (HWY 49). I considered upgrading my phone and contract so borrowed an IPhone 3 from a friend in Placerville to check reception and it didn't improve with the higher technology phone. I'm strongly considering switching to Verizon after 13 years with AT&T.

Cell service has gotten progressively worse. Used to get one or two bars if I'm lucky. Now I can't even send / receive text messages. Iphone always shows "searching" or "no service".

Inside my home, most of the time I have 3 to 4 bars. Sometimes none. Driving on Cameron Park drive, good reception, pretty good on Oxford, then turning on Cambridge and up Pasada nothing, until I get up on the ridge (where Woodleigh is).

Even with bars on my phone, my phone will not ring and it doesn't let me know when I have voice mail. I have to call in to get my vmail - unless I drive down toward Sacramento - then all my calls and text messages download. Had ATT prior and it was tiny bit better - but both dropped calls with no warning.

I tried almost every company and none of them work in West El Dorado County until I got Nextel. AT&T is the worst with no service but I got stuck with my contract.

Along freeways T-Mobile is pretty good. Out into residential area (Cameron Estates) it's bad. Can get reliable signal inside buildings.
Like Samsung S105 phone. No complaints.
Will probably switch to Sprint PCS to solve residential coverage problem.
