There are a few dead spots in town, at the newspaper building for one, but overall the reception is wonderful. I even get good strength at Sierra, all over the mountain, and at the base of Kirkwood.

First of all Cingular now the new AT&T has the best coverage in south lake tahoe, you can get five bars almost anywhere while Sprint has the worst u only get one bar almost everywhre u go including nextel. T mobile has good conerage too making in #2 here at south shore and Verizon has kind of a moderate reception not too good not too bad so in south shore Cingular or AT&T is the best

Great reception from ATT in South Lake Tahoe! (I know what you're thinking, a decent review for ATT?) In the Keys (where I currently live), you can expect to get 4-5 bars. Coverage is pretty good on highway 50, and even on the mountains of Heavenly Ski Resort. Coverage on most beaches. You can expect to get 3G almost everywhere. A recent speed test of the 3G here received 4.4 Mbps, which is damn good! Lastly, almost all of the residents here are ATT subscribers. ATT doesn't get 5 bars because occasionally your calls can drop, and recently a cell tower went down for almost a full day, but otherwise great service.

Cingular by far has the best coverage in the south shore area. I live here so Ive been around this town from corner to corner and theres practically nowhere a signal cant be picked up. Within the city limits it is not uncommon to get 5 bars (full signal) everywhere. Cingular has excellent placement of towers in the area and most operate on the 850 band for added coverage. South shore is definitely Cingular-land.

Coverage very good throughout the city of South Lake Tahoe. Coverage spotty around Emerald Bay, but better at lake level and with a clear view of the Cave Rock and Round Hill areas of Nevada, where I believe the tower is. Good coverage in most places close to the lake from Homewood north to Tahoe City and Incline Village.

where I live on emerald bay road sometimes it drops the call but usually all over aouth lake and stateline I have no problems unless I want to use my data then it can be kinda spotty. Other than the phone itself being a piece of crap virginns service seems better than most. My neighbor has to go outside and at least I dont have to do that lol he has metro pcs.

I have a Virgin Mobile plan which uses Sprint. I usually get 2 bars in my driveway, 1 bar near a window, and none inside the house. I use it when on the road and it's good for that but not as as my main phone at home.

T-mobile worked great when I first got it 3 years ago. Since then I swear they have sold 1 / 2 their towers. I'm lucky to get a bar at best. I ended up getting a phone that works with WiFi too. Too bad their wifi connect with the phone sucks too. AT&T is the way to go for sure.
