I have a Virgin Mobile plan which uses Sprint. I usually get 2 bars in my driveway, 1 bar near a window, and none inside the house. I use it when on the road and it's good for that but not as as my main phone at home.

T-mobile in south shore sucks there are random dead areas around Seirra Tract and the neighborhood by Barton hospital also Al Tahoe blvd and the schools around there. The weird thing is that there are horrible areas and almost perfect reception in others right next to each other

Great reception from ATT in South Lake Tahoe! (I know what you're thinking, a decent review for ATT?) In the Keys (where I currently live), you can expect to get 4-5 bars. Coverage is pretty good on highway 50, and even on the mountains of Heavenly Ski Resort. Coverage on most beaches. You can expect to get 3G almost everywhere. A recent speed test of the 3G here received 4.4 Mbps, which is damn good! Lastly, almost all of the residents here are ATT subscribers. ATT doesn't get 5 bars because occasionally your calls can drop, and recently a cell tower went down for almost a full day, but otherwise great service.

T-mobile worked great when I first got it 3 years ago. Since then I swear they have sold 1 / 2 their towers. I'm lucky to get a bar at best. I ended up getting a phone that works with WiFi too. Too bad their wifi connect with the phone sucks too. AT&T is the way to go for sure.

There are a few dead spots in town, at the newspaper building for one, but overall the reception is wonderful. I even get good strength at Sierra, all over the mountain, and at the base of Kirkwood.

First of all Cingular now the new AT&T has the best coverage in south lake tahoe, you can get five bars almost anywhere while Sprint has the worst u only get one bar almost everywhre u go including nextel. T mobile has good conerage too making in #2 here at south shore and Verizon has kind of a moderate reception not too good not too bad so in south shore Cingular or AT&T is the best

The Sprint representative told me I would get reception at my house on Mandan, but I don't even get it in the front yard, down the street, or anywhere in the neighborhood until I get to Lira's. I can't get reception at my workplace off of Elks Point Road, and I regularly drop calls in town, like sitting at the Bijou Longs. Sprint utterly sucks, and they give lousy service when I've asked them to address these issues.

Cingular by far has the best coverage in the south shore area. I live here so Ive been around this town from corner to corner and theres practically nowhere a signal cant be picked up. Within the city limits it is not uncommon to get 5 bars (full signal) everywhere. Cingular has excellent placement of towers in the area and most operate on the 850 band for added coverage. South shore is definitely Cingular-land.
