No phone signal. I use to have Verizon which worked perfectly. I wish they would put an antenna in Sugarloaf! : (

Our Verizon cell is the only one that picks up a signal at our cabin. Between all the family members who have either T-mobile, ATT, or Sprint, my phone is the only one that works here.

I used to have my service with Cingular - for 8 years - and had great service in Sugarloaf. Then AT&T bought out Cingular and my service went to ZIP NOTHING. I called and complained several times but song and dance about will report - look into blah-blah - no one ever called back. I was told the only way to get out of my contract was to pay it off till end of contract term. Why should I have to do that when I was happy with the service I had before but it was changed and forced on me. I should have had the choice of being let out of my contract. So as of Sept I will be changing to Verizon - that service gets reception in Sugarloaf.

Absolutely no usable AT&T reception in Sugarloaf. I tried calling AT&T about this to get an idea when some service, if even marginal, might become availbale, but just got the usual "we arealways upgrading our service, but at this time... blah, blah, blah" kind of answer.

When we first bought our house in 2003 we had pretty good reception. Now nothing. Thinking about getting a second carrier for when were up at the house just in case there is an emergency.

I'm a fulltime resident of the Big Bear Valley and have lived here for over 6 years. I've been a Verizon Wireless customer since 5/2000. In the beginning Verizon's coverage had many large area's of "No Service." We were initially told that there would be major improvements especially coverage in our home area of Sugarloaf which had no service by any carriers, and it would happen within about a year. It took 2yrs, but now Verizon is by far the best wireless provider in the valley and in fact now there are only small areas of no service and they're in the west end of the lake near "Boulder Bay" and in the "Moonridge" area. We've been so satisfied with the coverage that we stopped our land-line phone service over a year ago, and haven't regretted the decision.
