Signal mostly oscillates from 0 to 3. Reception is appalling. Have to walk around the house to even get a signal that allows us to call out. Once the signal drops to 1 or 2 the communication become garbled to the point that you can no longer understand. We are so out of AT&T the minute we can get out without penalties.

Low to no reception inside house-- one bar outside. Frequently lose calls (rarely can complete them) signal is poor at best. Phone never rings, voicemail is delivered when leaving the area. AT&T is trying to put a new cell tower in our area, and some of the local NIMBYs are actually fighting it. At least AT&T is trying to fix this service hole that has been here for at least 5 years.

I called AT&T since the reception is pretty poor. The technician said that this area is in between a couple of cells coverage areas. So if you live in this area, I would not recommend AT&T.

Signal is getting poorer on our complex, looks like AT&T is slacking much more... wake up AT&T, when Verizon gets their hand on the iPhone, I'm moving over the fence.

Reception and call quality has been typically poor the last two years for both the BB Bolds we have. Today July 28th, 2010 was specially bad, hardly any 3G signal the entire day, mostly GPRS and Edge.

I only get reception in one room of my house, and usually have to stand next to the window to avoid dropped calls, echo, and other problems. AT&T coverage around the silicon valley area seems terrible in general, particularly in the 3G band. I frequently receive voice mail for calls that never rang my phone, it sometimes takes 30 seconds or more to connect a call, and the call audio quality is absolutely terrible. I have to ask people to repeat themselves all the time due to audio drop outs or noise. Despite the terrible service, AT&T is overpriced when compared with other carriers. I love my iPhone, but have grown to loathe AT&T.

Regularly get voice mails 4 days later, missed calls that never show up on the phone. For example today I woke up to my phone having six frantic voice mails from my work, each one made after 3pm yesterday, between 3pm and 5pm. All of them came through sometime between 2am and 5:30am in the morning. I was out of the house around 8pm so it's not my reception. It's ATT. The techs tell me I have wonderful service and need new phones. Bull! Both phones had this happening over 2 years ago when they were brand new. Contract is up in October. ATT has horrible customer service. They will never let you out of your contract no matter how bad your service really is. Beware of signing with them.

Basically no reception inside on 2nd floor. Barely any reception outside.

AT&T have worked flawlessly for the past 3+ years. Anywhere, inside outside etc. 3yrs back had T-mobile, had no coverage, had to break contract coz of that. But a lot depends on phone too. I now have two Samsung phone and I don't get any signal at home (unless the phone is perched up on top of a window sill, in the tallest tower in the highest room!)

Pathetic reception outside and inside the house. If I'm lucky I'll get 2 bars. Most of the time calls go to voicemail directly.

Never had any problems with reception in sunnyvale area

I get no reception inside my office building near Borregas Ave and Java Drive. Outside is fine. Never had a dropped call outside.

Dropped calls in the house all the time... and of course, the worst reception occurs where there are the most comfortable places to sit (Murphy's Law!). It's almost like I have to be outside standing on my head to get good reception. There are also terrible pockets on Foothill Expressway between Grant and San Antonio.

Cingular was a nightmare! Poor reception, and no reception in my house. They overcharged me every month, and it would take many calls to Cingular's customer service (each lasting almost one hour) to resolve. On average, I called Cingular's customer service about four times a month... for a total of about four hours! Don't fall for their great advertising like I did! I switched to T-Mobile, and everything is MUCH better. T-Mobile may not have as nice phones as Cingualr does, but that is a blessing, because you can go on the internet and buy any GSM phone you like, and it will already be unlocked! I beg you to noit get Cingular. They overchrged me over $700 one month (I had a discounted international long distance plan, and every month, it would disappear mysteriously), and when I complained for the 10th time in one-and-a-half weeks, they said they will give me "the benefit of the doubt" and only make me pay 50% of it! :( So, I had to pay about $350 when all I should have paid was around $80. They were JERKS to me on the phone, they didn't care that I was a customer for almost five years. I felt so good when I finally dropped their service, and I encourage everone to please sign up with ANY carrier aside form Cingular. By the way, keep this in mind: My sitiuation is not unique. From searching the web, I found out that many people have had the exact same experiences with Cingular, and have gotten similar results. Aviod Cingular at all costs. You will regret the day you signed up with Cingular! Their advertising and promises are FAR FAR different from what they deliver in the real world!

Signal is terrible, even when using a GSM 850 phone. I only put '1' bar here because I can occasionally receive a signal on my phone, but it's rarely good enough to send / receive calls or text messages. In contrast to this, just 2 miles further south in Cupertino I have a full signal, even indoors.

I have to upstairs to get two bars. Phone never rings I only get message beeps. Sucks at work as well San Jose at first st and 101.

No reception in my apartment and very low signal even in major xing at El Camino Real. Singal strenght fluctuates very often in other areas too.

I don't know why some people are saying the reception sucks. I get 3 bars indoors, no problems receiving and making calls or even browsing the wireless internet and downloading stuff. Maybe the merger with AT&T helped? I recently switched from Verizon to Cingular. No problems at all so far. I decided it was time to join the rest of the world and go GSM. Now I can take my phone with me to Europe and Asia.

I have full reception but I keep on getting "network busy"! It's killing me. I didn't have that problem until this week.

3 weeks ago my Cingular service started giving me problems. Dropped calls or echo feedback. This happens 90% of the time. Our phones are amost unusable at this point. When I would answer the phone it would be just my voice feedback. If I try to make calls my phone will read that it connected but all I would hear is the sound of my own voice. I tried to get Cingular customer service to help me with resolving this problem. After numerous calls to them and even upgrading our phones thinking that would help... I am canceling our phone service with Cingular. Customer service at Cingular is horrible. They were rude and really don't care if our phone service is working (we pay 100.00 a month for horrible service) and I would never never recommend Cingular to anyone.

Very poor reception everywhere. Once you are indoors, your phone is dead. Cingular should be out of business in Sunnyvale.

No reception in home and very poor reception around neighborhood.

Very poor reception. The phone shows having a signal but I can only receive 1 out of 5 calls and make 1 out of 3 calls. I have SIM card registeration faliures 2-3 times a day, and voice mail won't reach the phone until 1.5 hrs later.

No reception in the entire area. So close to Interstate 280, yet there is not even 1 bar. Cingular please install towers ASAP!

terrible reception in this area. maybe 1-2 bars at most. i can receive a call but can not continue to talk. way to choppy

No reception inside building at all. The area around Kifer / Wolfe / FairOaks is spotty.

The Reception is 0-1 and have to try holding the phone in multiple angles. If you use a Cingular TDMA from a different state, the signal level is between 4-5. Cingular should provide an option of GSM or TDMA for this area.

There seems to be a big black hole around this intersection. For half a mile around, there is absolutely no coverage by Cingular. However, AT&T has average coverage here.
