Things I have learned when buying cell phones. Cingular now has good GSM coverage. Phones based on older technology will get crappy coverage. When getting a phone make sure it is either a tri band or quad band phone aka world phone. My last two phones before this one were world phones, and they worked great. I also have a nationwide plan as well so that may help. LG's for Cingular suck. Avoid Lg's like the plague. Also ask the cell phone rep about a certain phone you plan to buy. They can usually tell you if it is a decent phone or not. I have found that Nokia's are probably the best for reception (and indestrutable too), followed by Motorola(hit and miss one model might be good but then one model might be horrible.) Sony's rank up there too. So just do your homework before you buy a phone and then you should know what to expect.

I live in the Redbridge subdivision. Since Cingular took over, the quality of my reception has decreased. Usually one bar on the ground floor and 2 bars on the second floor. Sometimes I have 3 bars but they disappear quickly, even though I haven't moved an inch. Pretty good coverage in town Tracy though.

Wow, Cingular never has dull service anywhere in town. I can travel up to Lodi California... . I can go down to San Jose california 4-5 bars everywhere! good tower switch time, you do not drop calls when you switch towers.. Cingular truely raises the bar! :o) Thank you Cingular wireless!

West side of Tracy below 11th St.back of house - VERY poor reception front of house - poor reception Not the fault of the phone since I get perfect reception at work in Tracy near intersection of Chrisman and Linne Rd.
