Always terrible. Calls are dropping like flies where I need it most... if only they weren't so cheap I would've been gone two cycles ago... heck, I'm gonna be happy with AT&T...

I used to have decent reception but for past couple of years or so, the reception has been terrible. Lots of dropped calls, no calls and poor reception. I think ATT's service has gone down the tube recently. Everybody I know who has ATT has poor serivce.

what is everyone talking about? I talk all day and night and I have never had a dropped call. I drive out to palm spring 4 days a week for work. the only place I have an issue ever is on the 210 between the 15 and 215fwy. Verizon is awesome.

Cingular drops calls CONSTANTLY here. Both my and my wife's Sony / Ericsson have very poor reception in this (and many other areas). I'm here to find out which is the best carrier. I have a feeling its Sprint. I've had Sprint before and never had a problem... only they screwed me on a bunch of charges (over $300!) so I'm boycotting them. I'm looking for an alternative. if you live in Upland, don't get Cingular! its awful.

Verizon offers limited reception above the 210 Fwy. Once you cross 24th, you're down to pretty bad reception. We had T-Mobile but switched to Verizon. T-Mobile had excellent reception starting at 25th St. and below, but it literally died north of that. I don't think any company gets good reception above 25th. However, if you compare Verizon with T-Mobile for areas above the 210 Fwy, I'd go with T-Mobile. Side note: I was at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway at 9,000 ft elevation and got pretty good reception with Verizon.

Have had Cingular for years with relatively no problems, then we swithched from Nokia phones to the new razr phones. Had problems with razr phones from day 2. phone would power off on its own and would have to remove battery and reinstall to power up again. after experiencing this many times, I exchanged phone. my wife's phone didn't ever power off. We started having problems with dropped calls and no reception 30 daays into the new contract. I had to drop Cingular and I am currently trying out Verizon. Will report on Verizon exp. at a later date.

Can almost throw a rock and hit the Cingular tower in San Antonio Park. The worst reception since I traded in my Sprint phone. At least Sprint told me I was out of their service area, so bad reception was expected. I switched to Cingular because the tower is so close, and expected great reception, but nooooooo. My daughter has the exact same phone. She gets great service. I changed out my original V551 for another one at their store and got no better service.

Can't agree with post of July 16th - reception totally blows (due to power lines?) - should also include LG VX6000 and Audiovox 8910 tested - lousy reception
