We lived in Burbank for a while and had great Verizon coverage. The moved to Van Nuys / Sherman Oaks area and Verizon was bad. They let us out of our contract early. So we got iPhones and AT&T. From dec 09 to may10 we had stellar service. Rarely a failed call. Tons of bars most of the time. Sometime in May, coincidentally when Apple announced the new iPhone, we started getting failed calls and very poor service especially indoors. We even tried that AT&T m cell tower but are returning it due to it shutting down our server off and on all day. And so we started quizzing anyone we knew who used the iPhone and every person we talked to said starting just before the summer they had mostly crappy service especially in their houses. From Pasadena to woodland Hills and in between. Anyone way to start a class action suit?

My cell phone is my only phone. I need to be able to rely on it. I got it to replace my landline many years ago. Don't remember having quite as much trouble when I lived in West L.A. (before Cingular merged with AT&T), but then I moved to Sherman Oaks and have lived here since Dec. 2007. Reception has always been fair at best, but now it's completely non-existent. Late 2009, I was having to go outside and down block to get even 1 or 2 bars; now my message says "No Network Available." What the heck is going on?? Went to AT&T store, rep was very nice, but she thought replacing SIM card would do the trick. No luck. Worth saying I do get a little reception around Van Nuys / Magnolia, but the cutoff point for me is one block west (Kester / Magnolia). Phone immediately goes to zero. I'm SO frustrated right now - locked in contract till Jan. 2011, and of course, the rep pulled up the coverage map and said, "Oh, it looks like you should be getting great coverage." Yeah, right. If it takes cutting my losses with a term. fee, I will, but they should let me out. How is it right to pay $50 a month for no coverage? Ridiculous!

Poor reception here at all times, both in coming and outgoing. Also poor when calling from near downtown L.A. to this location.

For Cingular saying they are the only network that does not drop calls, is a total lie. There has been many times when I have been trying to place a call and had no good reception or calls did not go through. I am very unhappy about this.

Cingular GSM is much better than a few years ago. Indoors it is still marginal. Better upstairs than downstairs. For important calls I will walk outside or use my landline. On major streets and freeways it is pretty reliable. I grew up with only landlines and I still consider the wireless system a step below!

my phone wont work inside my bedroom, or kitchen, but I get 1 bar in my living room. For some reason it works better in the early morning (like 12am-5am), not sure why that is. the phone is half-decent when you are outside but drops calls at least 2-5 times a day. I am very unhappy with cingular, and their customer service is bad too. I will be switching soon, probably to t-mible ebcause I don't think I will be approved for sprint. I am glad I found this website.

I get 1 bar when I am outdoors almost anywhere in Van Nuys. I get 0 bars inside of my apartment. I literally had to stand on the toilet in the bathroom and lean towards a window near the ceiling just to answer my phone. That helped, but it always would die in a matter of minutes or seconds. Even just stepping outside the door of my apartment did not help. I would have to walk about 50 yards down the road until my phone would give me service. It frequently would die even being out and about driving in the area. It also would not work well in other areas, like downtown LA, under any bridge, Hollywood. Half the time it never rang, it just went straight to voicemail. I hate Cingular for this area. I even tried a $370 phone out for a week (later returning it) to see if that would make a difference over my cheap-o free phone, and NO it did not make even the tiniest bit of difference. Booooo to Cingular.
