Lousy cell phone reception. I have home wifi and if I didn't, I would have almost no service. Verizon doesn't seem to care about their service here. No one there to talk to so I guess their philosophy is "go somewhere else, we don't care". And I will.

At night and in the early mornings, my brand new Motorola phone (using my equally new Verizon plan) works fine. Unfortunately, the same is not true during my waking and working hours, which tend to be non-nocturnal these days. Not only does all data-related functionality operate at early 1990s levels, but even innocuous simple text messages and occasional local calls often don't (won't... ?) connect, which seems absurdly counterintuitive based on my (admittedly limited) understanding of how such things work. I assumed that standard SMS messages and local phone calls didn't require an internet connection. Nonetheless, my new neighbors in Blue River (Breckenridge) have unanimously advised me to get WiFi hooked up ASAP (though no one has provided an explanation as to why that's so). All I hear from actual residents (as opposed to the ubiquitous "homeowner' class - those who visit but live elsewhere, presumably in one of their non-income-producing properties) is that internet service is essential to survival here. Needless to say, this news is extremely disappointing as I make very little money relative to the cost of living here, and for years have proudly lived with nothing more than my T-Mobile unlimited data plan (approx. $60 / month), thereby avoiding the extra expense of paying for WiFi. Unfortunately this is not possible in Breckenridge (esp. Blue River). Before I even officially moved in, it was already painfully clear that T-Mobile was going to be useless, and so, with a metaphorical gun to my head, I switched to a more expensive Verizon plan that is functional only as I sleep. All in all, internet and cell service sucks up here - but the scenery is undeniably breathtaking (this from one who dislikes the sun and most things associated with the Great Outdoors). If only I didn't need a functional phone in order to eek out a meager Sisyphusian living like most 21st century Americans.

Gave up Verizon for ATT, big mistake! Now we have dropped calls, bad reception, voice mail instead of a call, and on weekends when there are tourists in town the system is overloaded and the chance of receiving a call is not good. We are stuck with the 2 year contract and can expect no help from ATT.

New Samsung Galaxy 3 and NO ATT Reception. My family uses Verizon and service is great for them. I am very disappointed and am helpless on ATT. Can't get any voice mails and not even one bar... ..
