AT&T has been telling me I live in a "hole" and Colorado Springs has overall poor AT&T coverage. THen why are they saleing the product to locals? I can be in my apartment and the signal goes from nothing to all my bars to nothing... without moving! Currently I have 1 bar; if I hae to call 911 I'm screwed. If you lie in the area, you should avoid AT&T at all costs. They will also cancel your service if you use too many "off network" minutes, even after telling them I travel for a living. My family has alrady changed to Verizon, it's just a matter of time before I do.

Can't call out with the iPhone. Received phone from my company, apparently they do not have another carrier. They ordered me the microcell, which depends on my Internet service to get a signal. With the microcell, I get decent reception with both voice and data, but when my DSL goes out, I am back to nothing. Personal service is Sprint. We bought a cheap signal booster (~$100), and as long as we are standing right next to it, we can get a decent signal, no dropped calls. So far, the best I have seen in this area is my parents' T-Mobile phones. They can walk around the house and only drop about 50% of the calls. If they are near the signal booster, they get a good signal. I think my mom's Android was able to get data no problem.

poor reception at home in apartments even though coverage map says it should be good in this area. almost no reception at all at work, where again, coverage map says it should be best / good. dropped calls, calls don't come through, voicemail comes in an hour later. texting can't send if call is trying to come through, but the call doesn't show. Calls get diverted to voicemail if texting. VERY frustrating for business. Considering changing service providers- looks like Sprint and Verizon both have better coverage for the areas I live and work in, but don't know if their coverage maps might be as inaccurate as AT&T's

Kept getting "call failed" and dropped calls on both my wife's and mines Iphone 4's last couple months and couldn't even make calls last week from that location or around town. Have a year left and willing to pay the "early termination fee" Signed up with Verizon and two new Iphone 4's, hopefully the service will be better. Verizon has a trade in program depending on how old and what condition your Iphone 4 is in. (enough to pay for the early termination fee). Folks I've talked to have had no real problem with phone calls on their Verizon Iphone (just the rare occassion) Hey, I know the technology isnt perfect but really ATT network seems to have only gotten worse over time... plus Verizon is bringing 4G LTE service out much faster than ATT (already in alot of major cities) and its coming to Colorado Springs by beginning of next year. The next version of Iphone will probably have 4G LTE. I opted for the current Iphone 4 because I needed a phone now. I'll just wait for the time I can upgrade to a Iphone with 4G LTE (Android phones a little to buggy for my taste) at least I should be able to make a basic phone call with it! So if basic phone call capability is important to you don't let the whistle and bells cloud your decision on choosing a phone.

But it's looking like all cell service companies are like politicians..they all lie and it's a choice of the lesser of the evils.

Switched from Alltel to AT&T by AT&T purchase of Alltel properties in our previous area. Although Alltel did not have towers in our new area, (Colorado Springs), we were using either Sprint or Verison towers while here - no reception issues. Now very questionable reception at my house. People have tried calling my wife on her cell phone multiple times, some giving up, some finally getting through. I have trouble calling from my home but get good reception at work (Garden of Gods and Forge). This is only day two on AT&T, not sure we'll stay with them. Contract runs out 1-Jun-11, now exploring options. Suggestions welcome.

The phone reports decent coverage here in Northgate where I live, usually 4 / 5 or 5 / 5 bars. However, ever since the iPhone came along we get dropped calls absolutely all the time. For a period of time in the summer of 2010 we would probably drop 1 out of 2 calls within the first minute, or often just be unable to dial out at all (connection error). AT&T reportedly made some network improvements last fall to address the problems, and now it's maybe 1 out of 5 calls are dropped. I'm tired of competing with the stupid iPhone for just having enough bandwidth to make a silly voice call. We're leaving as soon as we can. I believe that there is a Sprint tower about a mile west of us at I-25 and roughly mile marker 155, and no iPhone bandwidth hogs on Sprint. Also, there is zero coverage on Centennial about half a mile north of 30th all the way around Ute Valley Park to Eagleview middle school.

AT&T's air card is worthless. I work out of my home, and spend more time trying to connect / re-connect than I spend on work. I will literally get 20-30 "reconnect" pop-up windows every hour. I can't wait to get rid of this thing and get something that allows me to focus on my job instead of thrashing around on AT&Ts problems.

The reception is zero in this area. If you happen to get one or two bars when the wind blows in the right direction you don't get them for very long so it's not worth even trying to make a call. I am planning on paying out of my contract as soon as I figure out the best coverage for the area I spend most of time in.

If you live in Mountain Shadows, and are looking at the iPhone, DEFINITELY get the Verizion version. I would trade in my AT&T iPhone 4 right now, but there are rumors of an iPhone 5 coming out this year.

Every once in a while, if I stand at the end of my driveway, I can get enough information to identify the person calling me so I can call them back on my land line. The only reason I have a land line is because I cannot use my cell phone at home - absolutely 0-1 coverage. I have free long-distance on my cell phone and have family in Ohio and CA. I can only call them while driving out of the area. I can predict with utmost certainty where exactly my calls will drop. We have three different phones at home and all of them do not have coverage. I despise my 2 year contract and will run to my new carrier the day it is up. Still not certain which carrier - but our friends with Verizon can use their cell phones at our house without problem. Probably Verizon will be my next roll of the dice.

We live downhill from the LaaDeeDahs in the Broadmore Area. I understand that that community has prevented cell phone towers in the nearby area resulting in a large dead zone from Venetucci Blvd. to the foothills. Our reception is terrible and has been with several previous phone models. We constantly have poor reception or dropped calls. If Cingular "has the fewest dropped calls" as they advertise then the other companies must be REALLY HORRIBLE as it can't get much worse that the service we get with Cingular.

I have wonderful reception it is the company's imcompitance that drives me through the celling. We pay our bill on time all the time, I have a 450 min. a month plan. I need no more and at this point I have over a 1000 roll over minutes. They have been charging us by the minute, even our mobile to mobile time and calls that don't exist. Dealing with this and more since we had signed the contract (this being the only reason we are still with them) we finally were under the impression everything was sorted. This morning I find out the discontinued our service for lack of payment and being "so far over due" I would never recommend this service to anyone for any reason. This kind of treatment makes me want to return and stick with a land line!

This had been an awful area for just about everyone I know. AT&T / Cingular had the best service, but that wasnt saying much. Last August my son jumped into our pool with his Lg 4015. I didnt want to change to the New Cingular plans because my old AT&T GSM plan was SO much better. I had read about a guy in Downtown Colorado Springs that had helped another gentleman out(I believe it was on this site). The guy told this user that most of the cell phones out now are junk and that he was the last one who tested for reception. He also said that this guy said many people "Blame the Highway; when it was the car all along." So I went to the Cingular store on Cheynne Mt and they told me they couldnt sell me an AT&T phone, but quietly reccomended one store that sold new and refurbished phones. Lo and behold; it was the same guy! so I went to him; Peak Cellular and Satellite, and WOW what an education! This guy said he used to be the biggest dealer in Colorado but now just opperates the one store by himself(Semi-retired?). He told me about the phones and why they didnt work well and what phones tested best for reception(he field tests them himself). Making a long story a little shorter, he listened to what I needed and suggested the Nokia 6200. It was a little expensive(as all phones without an activation or upgrade are) but well worth it. What a difference! No more having to go outside to talk on the deck. No more dropped calls at my house. Even alot of the areas I used to think were dead spots are not anymore. He said he had tweaked the internal antenna a bit (he does repairs also). I like the phone so much, I went back and bought 3 more(I'm on a 4-way family plan) for everyone else in my family. He has weird hours, but its worth the wait. He's also a little direct, but he calls it "blunt honesty". He also told me that I DID NOT have to switch to Cingular when my contract was up; just go month to month; no matter what the Cingular people say. I highly recommend him(I think his name was Dan or Dave) and will never buy from anyone else again.

The signal indicator keeps jumping from no bars to five bars. Once I am on the phone the sound quality is quite poor. I often cannot make a call because I get a “network busy” message. My phone can switch between analog, TDMA, and GSM, but the signal strength is always low. Phone always says “Cingular Extend” which means I am roaming. Thankfully my plan has no roaming charges.

I am so unhappy. I went from reliable AT&T TDMA to Cingular GSM after the change over. I can get 5 bars in most of town but I can only talk for about ten minutes at any point before the phone drops the call. I have never had a call that was over 15 minutes that didn't drop. The bars dwindle to 1 and then the call drops. As soon as the call drops the phone goes back to 5 bars. AAAAARRRRGGGGH! This is the second v551. I had the first replaced as a warranty problem after 25 days. This happens in Denver / Aspen / Colorado Springs on the highway / at my house etc. I really want to go back to TDMA, it worked and only dropped when there was no tower. Now I am stuck with a 2 year GSM plan. Never again.
