Just switched from Nextel to Sprint. Nextel had much better reception. The Sprint Blackberry makes your voice sound like you are talking in a cave. The Blackberry processor seems to be very slow. The unlimited everything plan is a nice idea, but not when you don't have very good service. I need to keep looking and return my phone before the 30 day guarantee expires.
I don't have Virgin Mobile, but it's a Prepaid Service Plan, Net10. Throughout the city, from what I have noticed, I have usually 2-4 bars. Area I have noticed no service is 3-5 miles from the entrance to Pikes Peak, you lose your service.
Last night, from central Kansas all the way into Colorado Springs, all I could get was "Searching", even when I was within 75 miles of Denver. Could get no signal anywhere in Wyoming or South Dakota on a trip earlier this month. I purchased a cell phone in the event I needed highway assistance on a trip. Glad I found out how useless Verizon is before I do need help.
I did get reception but it would come and go. I could not hear a full conversation because the voice would drop and come back. Luckily I was able to stop my Verizon service and go back to Sprint. I do not have any issues with Sprint in this area.
I was looking to leave Sprint and go to another cell provider to save a little money - but from what I am reading - service realiability is all over the place! maybe i'll stay with Sprint! My Sprint service is excellent in the Briargate area, the only problem areas I have found are on Woodmen between Union and Academy, and on the Air Force Academy. I've been with Sprint for 4 years, and travelled all over the country with the nationwide service - no problems!
We have had Cingular / ATT for a couple years. The reception in Widefield and throughout Fort Carson and Colorado Springs has been good with multiple phones on the family plan.
I recently was provided a Verizon cell phone through my employer. I work out of my home in Briargate. Verizon reception throughout all of Briargate is aweful. I took my phone to the local Verizon service center and the technician told me that reception throughout all of Briargate was poor and told me that I could get a refund on the phone and get out of the service plan. I was a Nextel subscribe for years and the reception I got in my home was acceptable at best but great compared to Verizon.
Don't even consider AT&T if you live in Mountain Shadows. I've been able to complete only about 20% of my calls. My 2 years are due in November and I am dropping them as quickly as they drop my calls.
