In this part of Denver, compared to AT&T / Cingular GSM, T-Mobile GSM seems better. I get about 50% reception in the basement and more upstairs.

Replaced Nokia 6820 with Audiovox SMT5600 on AT&T / Cingular GSM. Get either 0 or 1 bars in basement (out of 5), while Nokia 6820 gets at at least 3 (out of more bars). The phone can't receive the incoming call, so I may have to go back to a Nokia. Too bad because the Audiovox is a nice Smartphone.

2-3 bars at best. Calls drop sometimes over about 70 feet south of the corner of Alameda and Quebec by the cemetery. I live just south of Bayaud on Syracuse and my reception disappears in my garage, my kitchen, and sometimes in my loft - I suspect the tower is resetting pretty often. I know of all the carriers that Nextel seems to be the only carrier that gets decent reception - they have a Nextel store over here on campus over at Town Center, and they own a lot of towers over off of Leetsdale and Monaco by the bowling alley. (A Denver PD communications supervisor says it sucks because their 800MHz radios go dead when they get a lot of Nextel calls in the neighborhood - Nextel uses the low 800MHz frequencies which are different than most everyone else which are about 850 MHz or higher.) I have had people tell me that Cingular gets next to nothing, Sprint PCS gets at best 'anywhere from the 'martini glass' to 3 bars', and T-Mobile gets 'nothing' from a customer who works over at the credit union. I have a cellularly monitored security system from ADT and my poor installer had to go two stories up into my attic in my townhome to get, at best, 84% signal strength. I suspect its a CDMA system, but don't quote me. I have been told by old AT&T customers, with old TDMA handsets, that they didn't have dropped calls over at the nasty drop out spot at Ala. and Quebec, but haven't any idea. (I still think they'd do well to do a 'fake tree' tower, a la Monument Hill, over at the cemetery - give the people buying plots over near it a cut on the real estate - and think of how much money they'd make! - Or why isn't Covad putting in some antennas on top of their building? Zoning? After all, their newest product focus is wi-fi mesh... ya'd think?!?) I used to get up to 5 bars in my old place over off of Bayaud and Fairmount, which dropped to at best 3 in the past 2 years. What happened? Grrrr... we finally got Vonage for the house and use it at home - saves minutes and occasional frustration - at least our Verizon phones work great when we go fishing in Granby... go figure)

Calls drop constantly. I go from full bars down to nothing in a matter of seconds. I rarely have a call that doesn't drop. Other services appear to work fine. Why Sprint is so poor here, I have no idea. I lived 3 blocks from this location a few years ago and didn't have any problems with Sprint. Calls to Sprint in attempt to resolve this issue have gotten me nowhere. At least I can call *2, say "dropped call" and be credited $.50 / dropped call.

I get a good signal from my unit on the 15th floor. But no signal when I'm standing in the lobby or in front of the building. I get NO signal when I'm in the Safeway on 6th Street. I get NO signal when I'm at Foleys or very bad signal when in Cherry Creek Mall. When I've traveled, I've always had very bad / poor reception. I went to Orlando and received NO reception. I've tried Sprint which is horrible. I do get great reception in the Black Hawk area. I hear Qwest is good, however there plan are not very competetive. Mayble I'll go back to getting a pager.

Verizon is great elsewhere, but I've noticed that with 2 bars or less it's a total crap shoot in Park Hill. Even when I am outside it's not that great.

Not always the best reception, but the Analog network still works in the mountains where the Digital-only networks / phones fail.

Very Spotty reception in the Green Mountain area. Mostly only 1 bar of signal strength and almost never can complete a call. Phone will ring though, I answer, drop call.

Reception pretty much sucks out near the airport. I've noticed that sometimes I'll be on the phone and I can no longer hear the caller but the phone keeps ticking the time away when it should have just automatically dropped. If I try to hit end call it keeps going. Nice way to rack up the minutes. My el cheapo cricket had better service. I don't think I ever had to deal with dropped calls.

I live in this area it has been this way for the last year or so. Never works inside where ever I go, and it wont work outside if there is more than a light cross wind. I have had 2 phones myself with t-moblie, one brand new. people I know with T-Mobile that come over have the same problems. I have had Nextel, Qwest, Sprint, and Cricket in my house all work fine. I can use the same phone to connect to AT&T and get 4 bars, so what gives???

I've had Cricket for 3 years with good reception, call quality, and value. And the small service area has improved quite a bit lately, both gotten larger and more reliable. But (and you knew this was coming) if you ever have the desire to leave the metro area or go to the outskirts... no service. You can add northern CO, Greely area for another $7 a month, but nothing south. Overall it's great if you have no need of a portable phone outside the city.

Cingular reception is terrible North of the Lowry Developmet. It even drops to no service a few blocks east of Quebec. I can't even use my phone at home near 11th and Roslyn most of the time. I sure hope Cingular puts a tower in this area soon. Other carriers have similar problems in this area.

Here's the problem I'm having with Tmobile. My phone actually gets full bars of signal here in my apartment, but the person I'm talking to cuts in and out and it's TERRIBLE! Many times I can't even hear the person make a complete sentence because the voice cuts in and out. I really don't know if it's T-Mobile service, or Nokia phones, because this is my second Nokia. As much as I hate Sprint customer service, I NEVER had problems with reception when I had them.

This service is perfect except for a small footprint of coverage area. To the bet of my knowledge there is not even roaming. But, I have lost 5 calls in 2 years and the reception is good throughout the Denver Metro area. Unlimited local minutes, 500 LD, $50, but SMALL AREA INCLUSIVE.

I have had the phone now two weeks and have noticed a remarkable change in clear phone calls and bars for reception. At the moment I think out of all the major cell providers and I have had all but T-mobile, formerly (Voicestream)... that Cingular provides the best reception due to AT&T towers. However their customer service is Lacking in major ways.
