Totally either unavailable or unstable reception with Verizon. But.. go to Hotchkiss or Crawford and one has reception. Pretty good reception surrounding Paonia but too many dropped calls when you go around a mountain etc.

What is it with Sprint? A little rain tonight and 0 to poor reception. Does anyone have a clue why the reception varies so much and is so poor?

Sprint used to be the best carrier here but as of February their site goes down when the temperature goes above 65. Now the site has been down for days. Sprint says they know about the problem and that it will be more than 5 days till they fix it. I've never seen a carrier who cares less.

I live 5 miles west of town and get 5 bars consistently. BUT, I will lose service at random times for random periods. I will have 5 bars then no service at all for a day or so. Doesn't happen often, but still. Good service in most parts of town, a couple low reception sites, but can still make useful calls. You lose service quickly driving east on highway 133, towards Somerset, but so do my friends with Cingular (stupid mountains). Virgin uses the Sprint tower(s). Besides Cingular, no other carriers offer service. Verizon has no plans to expand here neither does tmobile. I've had VM since 2005.
