I get 5 bars on the reception. I have seen my Verizon Wireless Broadband Wireless peak up to 2.6 mbps. But that is rare. Usually it's more like 3 KBps these days with 90% packet loss. But sometimes in the wee early morning hours, I can get over 2 mbps. The bandwidth really drops on weekends, holidays and the prime-time hours of 6pm to 10pm. That's when the majority of home users get on the Net. Verizon claims all is just fine. But they are not being honest (da!). The Calhan Tower is either over-subscribed, or is lacking the bandwidth to service all the active connections. Since Verizon is trying to get a new tower built in Peyton, they have no desire to increase the capacity at the Calhan Tower. Mark my words - the second the Peyton Tower comes on line (maybe this year), the bandwidth will magically get "better" at the Calhan Tower. Does this mean Verizon is a scum-sucking low-life heartless company that could care less about charging it's customers a high monthly fee for sub-par service? Well yes, I think it does.

Moving to Falcon was a big mistake for me and Verizon. both of our phones only work part of the time. I called Verizon then sent a tech out and he reports that they do not and have no plans to serve the Falcon area. he sent me to customer service and they want to charge me to get out of my contract because they do not serve me. wtf she said the service map shows you have coverage. I said what does your tech say? that you have no coverage. I said it sounds like you need a new map. anyway they will not let me out of the contract. I started the contract in Wy and they have coverage there. they say it is not their fault I moved to a non covered area. verizon sucks

I have been a customer of Att / Cingular for over 10 years and I am fool enough to believe them when they upgrade my phone every couple years that this will help my reception at home. Well, after hundreds of dollars and many many empty promises I am about ready to change carriers when the next sign up time is done. It is very poor business in my opinion when they tell you a new phone will improve your reception and then don't follow up to be sure it did the job or offer something else as a possibility.

I get good reception, but the data speeds are so low that I am considering going back to a 56k modem. At $60 a month, I expect better speed than 100kbps. Verizon must think El Paso County is not worth their time and trouble. Just milk whatever profits they can get out of their existing towers, and when enough people complain, they *might* think about expanding capacity. Maybe. I had better speeds back in the 1990's on DSL.

Verizon's service and customer service leave much to be desired. I use Verizon cell phone and have wireless broadband service on a PC laptop and a Mac. Added an antenna to the Mac and keep it near a window, so get the best service on it, which is poor at best. Downloading video is out of the question, and have had many dropped cell calls--even when talking with Verizon customer service. And if you think the customer service reps are bad, try talking to their supervisors. Evidently poor cell and broadband service doesn't fit their scripts for responding to customer service calls. No service means no customer service, as well. Frustrating! The best I can tell the CSR and tech people think all my problems with their service will be solved only if I keep upping the ante and pay for a larger plan.

At&T is the only service working here at this time. We've noticed Nextel / Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Virgin Mobile do not get a signal here. However, we don't access an At&T tower. Because we are below the horizon in the basin I can only assume the tower we are reaching is the one north of here by Kiowa. The map says it belongs to Industrial Communications Electronics and Inc. That makes sense because I get warned for surfing the web too much in one month because I'm "off network".

I have had similar problems as the other listed. Loss of calls and coverage over the last few years in the Falcon area. Verizon came out, checked the towers operations (all good). they said my coverage had degrade when they stopped the analog coverage an went to digital only. They stated that they are building a new tower but could not elaborate on dates for completion. Their suggested fix was for e to switch carriers.

I have lived at this address for 5 1 / 2 years and for the first 5 years had the best reception. I don't think that in 5 years I ever had a dropped call. Then all of a sudden I can't get consistant reception or non at all. My bars are all over the place and I have just today approx. 15 dropped calls. Verizon has been awful to work with and I am being lied to and not given any answers only excuses. But, they tell me that I can buy my own little tower for my home at a cost of $300.00. I have had 4 phones now and the same thing is happening to all. It's not a phone problem but rather where did the towers go problem. There is not any new construction in this area or any other reason's for this to happen.

I have had Verizon for the past 6 years and have had great service all over the country. I just recently moved to Colorado Springs area from Montana and figured my cell phone reception would be better than it was in Montana. WRONG! Since moving into my house on Allendale Dr, I have had nothing but problems with Verizon. Most of the time I only get 1 bar or less. If I go into the basement, no reception at all. Even after driving all around the springs, I am very disappointed with Verizon here. I have had more dropped calls in the last 2 months than I have had in the last 6 years with Verizon and am very seriously considering switching to another carrier. Verizon has a device that extends your range in your house by using your internet connection, but that only helps when I am at home. I don't use the phone that much when I am home, so that won't do us much good. Verizon claims to have the best network, but here in Colorado Springs, I would have to say they are not the best. If you want reliable coverage in Colorado Springs... Look elsewhere! I had much better coverage all over Montana than I get here in Colorado Springs! I am not bashing Verizon and would not leave them if it weren't for the poor coverage here. I would never leave them if the coverage were at least marginally better.
