AT&T reception is all of a sudden horrible at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area. It has worked fine for the last two years(making phone calls, text, steaming music). Now I can barley get a text out. Why is this??????

While I get awesome reception here in my home- the minute I get to the snow bowl heading out towards milner I loose all reception, I get the no service symbol and it stays that way thru milner, hayden, craig, meeker and rifle.. sadly I begin to get poor reception outside of grand junction thru grand junction only to loose service again! T-Mobile is worthless in this area and they won't let u out of contract if you move here even when they show they offer no coverage anywhere outside of the city of Steamboat Springs!

Verizon is one of the select few carriers that get reception within Steamboat Springs. Whether on the mountain, or in town... there is generally a strong signal. However, getting out towards the Oak Creek area greatly reduces any chance of finding a consistent signal. If you live in Stagecoach... you had better get a land line.

Hwy. 9 and Hwy. 40 / Silverthorn To Steamboat, Steamboat Springs, CO 80488 |

The drive to Steamboat from Silverthorn is a lonely one. The phone will work perfectly in Silverthorn but once you merge into Hwy. 9 and drive out north the phone switches to roaming in order to acquire service. Roaming service is very scarce along the way, the phone switches like crazy from no signal to 1 bar. And it is very very hard to connect even with one bar. There are certain spots that phone will work (not great) but one has to stop in order for it to work. Because you drive 1 meter from that stop and it dies down to no service. It is not a reliable service for sure but I have to admit at least it does work in some spots compared to GSM and it's carriers where is no service all the way.
