Reception in area poor, was told new tower was in plan, but no idea when that will happen. When my contract expires, I will change to another carrier.

Barkahamsted / Winsted line (Old North Rd), top of the hill, only about 1 mile from Cingular tower... Past 3 years received 4 or 5 bar digital signal on Sony Ericsson T61LX (TDMA)... UNTIL last week. At first I thought it was the almost 100 degree weather. I reported the following trouble to CS: Now receive analog 3 bar signal ROAMING, I can drive one mile north on Old North Rd and receive Cingular digital 4 / 5 bars (not roaming), when someone calls me they get a fast busy (does not go into voicemail). Since I can't receive any calls, CS was supposed to call my son with status, but they didn't... also didn't know the ETR is 5 to 7 days, when I called CS back yesterday. Just on a lark I stopped at the Cingular office in Winsted (Stop and Shop plaza)... the svc rep informed me and several other (very irritable) customers that Cingular shut down their tower PERMANENTLY. Inquired about upgrading to one of the newer phones, I was informed that since my phone has a Florida number, I'd have to open a new (separate) account on the Cingular network, as technically I'm still "former AT&T", even though AT&T Wireless no long exists... "I must migrate," she said. BUT, I can only migrate through one of the Florida offices or online. One company??? I guess not. TDMA service is supposed to be available until February 2008... We travel a lot and a couple of years ago there were numerous "no service" areas on the GPRS network, so that's why I've held off "migrating". I guess when I call to cancel my service contract (with a company that no longer exists) I'll be informed there is a cancellation fee. I'm not a happy camper right now.

My life is miserable. Cell phone service for me would change my life like a bald man growing a full head of hair.

I used to be a fairly popular guy, until cell phones became a device most people use now. There is no service anywhere near the medium sized neighborhood I live in. I can't call people because I have to call with a calling card from the house phone and no one reconizes the number on their caller ID so they don't answer. And when people call my cell phone, it goes straight to v-mail. People don't understand how you can't get any service at my house, and when they come to see for themselves, they never want to come back. PLEASE HELP ME HOLD ON TO THE FRIENDS I STILL HAVE BY PUTTING UP A TOWER IN MY AREA!

My phone always reads "Searching... ". The service in my area in unacceptable. I have to drive 5 miles down the road to make calls. It is very frustrating and embarrassing.
