Even outdoors, there is a good deal of static, particularly in residential areas away from the central campus. Hard to say if other carriers are any better, particularly in the grad ghetto area.

AT&T 5 Out of 5 Phone Model: Sony Ericsson T61d	Great reception, but Cingular has absolutely horrendus customer service and the phone is a disaster, also. Locked into a 2 year contract and regretting it. I'll never sign a 2 year ever again, it's worth it to just pay for a phone.
