i fluctuate between 4 and 5 bars, usually full 5. I think AT&T has the best reception in the "hills" of CT. I can get reception all the way through Kent. I lose it at the enterance to Macedonia Park. I believe the phone has a lot to do with reception. I used to have a cheap phone *cough* Motorola *cough* and I had horrible reception in New Milford. I suggest trying different phones brands.

With this phone I have held a call all the way from Danbury up either rte. 7 or back roads to northern New Milford (I live 1 mile up rte. 109 from where it leaves 202, towards Washington). Once in awhile a drop, but usually makes it. Sitting in my basement (one half wall and one full wall above ground, but poured concrete walls) I'm at 3 bars. North of New Milford I don't see any phones work, there is a resort near Lake Waramug that boasted about being "cell phone free". My older Nokia 2260 analog phone always dropped on northern Super 7, and sometimes other places on the old AT&T network. It only got 2 bars if I sat up against the window. Visitor phones often get no reception at my house.

New England is not meant for traditional cell service. There are to many hills and valleys that make travelling mobile cell phone calls impossible. The only way cell service will be what they claim is for all companies to develop the technology to make exsisting power lines the actually antenna. With the overhead power lines acting as the tranmitter and receiver, just about every road in New England would have coverage. It won't come anytime soon, but as soon as the power company starts brining tv and internet into your homes via the electrical lines, you may see the cell phone companies follow suit. In the mean time, the only way to pick a carrier is to have someone from each company stand in your home and show you their bars. Pick the best one, and live with it.

If I'm lucky I get 2 bars. Most of the time I get none. Even if I do get bars, the calls get dropped. Occassionally I'll see more bars, but it's brief and the call gets dropped anyway. Brookfield isn't much better. You only get 2 bars outside their store. Verizon told me to get a new carrier since southern New Milford is a dead zone for them.

Poor reception and lots of dropped calls in the summer - better (actually useable) during the winter. Seems the foliage has a lot to do with the signal strength. This area is east of Ridge road and about 200 ft down from the crest of the ridge, effectively shielding it from the downtown tower.

I can not recall the phone model that I had bought for Cingular service and since it was useless it was given to someone who could use it. We had absolutely no reception at our home and for aways in each direction. We did have reception in the town of New Milford, CT but nothing north of town along the Rte 202 corridor. We now have a Trac phone for use when we travel. Our son uses cell phone (Sprint) exclusively but when he visits from Va. his ability to use his phone is spotty. Usually he gets 1 or 2 bars when he is here and that is at a certain location out on the driveway.
