Coming from ATT where I had horrible reception in CT (used to live in downtown Hartford), I switched to VZW and haven't had a dropped call or crap connection yet. Always getting 3G so far.

You will drop almost every call after 30 or so seconds from top of Taylor St. in Vernon to Top of Vernon St. in Manchester. The entire area has poor reception on this side of town...

The roughly 3 miles surrounding this intersection has poor coverage, with some spots having no signal whatsoever. Verizon techs came to the area and confirmed the low signal strength, but admitted that there probably wouldn't be any fixes in the near future. They did offer to waive the $175 cancellation fee should I decide to switch carriers.

The reception is horrible indoors. The only way I've found to keep from dropping calls is to put the phone on speaker and leave it in one spot where the reception is best. If I move the phone at all, the call is likely to drop. Outside, reception increases to about 2 bars up from 0-1 indoors, but it's still not great.

Reception in my area is extremely poor. 1 or 2 bars on the frequency, intermittently it will go to no service, calls go directly to voice mail. Static and choppy reception. Reception especially bad during the summer when trees are in bloom. Dr.up the street 1 mile reception is much better.

Always have great reception throughout Vernon unless your heading down Lake St. towards Bolton. Gets pretty rough over there. Other than that its awesome. Travel to Newington on a daily basis and reception is awesome. I have had other carriers and Cingular is the best. Beats Verizon hands down.
