No reception again for the third time in a week! I think it is all former AT&T customers.

We've had occasional dropped calls from AT&T and Cingular. Yesterday, tho, no service whatsoever. The phones have 5 bars, but will not receive calls / text messages or send calls / text messages at the intersection listed above. They will, however, receive and send from outside DC.

Horrible reception-- a few dead spots 15 feet from each other. Was told that on 14th St.there are broadcasting dishes that will interfere with Nextel reception... . T-Mobil customers do not have issues in this area- only Nextel

Nextel has lousy coverage in NE DC. Very problematic along Rhode Island Ave, Home Depot, Brookland areas as well as driving on the Baltimore Washington Parkway. I am dropping Nextel for Verizon.

I always have five bars, but the calls drop after two minutes of talking to just about anyone. I had Verizon for a year before this and would recommend its' service. The Cingular service is not nearly as good. I wish I were not locked in for two years - if a cell phone company does not provide the service required of them, one should be able to discontinue service.

The Service has been rock solid for years. But a few months ago I started missing random calls... only to be notified of voicemail hours later. The phone always showed full service level.

Though reception is great and I rarely have clarity issues, Sprint seems completely unwilling to help me out since I have an older phone. Their service center wouldn't update the firmware even though when calling customer service they said I should get it updated there. They claimed this might fix the dropped calls, non-getting of calls, etc (even with full 5 bars and ability to call out), though none of the many reps could tell me exactly HOW the firmware was able to cause this problem. Sprint provided NO resolution to this problem, therefore they are losing my business.

I have had sprint,verizon,voicestream,t-mobile and AT&T tdma and gsm phones and by far the at&t's gsm phones are far more reilable when you are talking in the reception catagory in most places that I hav been on the east coast I have had great service with the AT&T network and to be honest I really would have liked it better if AT&T would have bought cingular, becaue Cingular on the other hand has a more (non) customer service here is one example AT&T customer service deparment never closed but not of the merger cingulars customer service department closes at 9p.m. est

Average reception for SprintPCS in my area. No reception in Metro Tunnels and Stations, which is annoying. Would switch to Verizon in a heartbeat, but they don't support the Treo or any other real data oriented phones.

I dont think Nextel is of any use in DC unless you just want to use it for that direct calls or walkee takee thing. If u live or work in DC, just look for another company.

AT&T GSM service works great when there's a signal - voice quality can't be beat, when you have good coverage. Problem is, the coverage in DC is very spotty. NO METRO COVERAGE WHEN IN UNDERGROUND STATIONS OR TUNNELS. This is a big negative for me, since I commute 30 min each way on the metro. Also AT&T GSM service is very poor inside most buildings. Overall, if you live in DC, don't get AT&T GSM.

My Sprint connection is OK here, but I sometimes get dropped calls depending on where I'm standing in my house. Verizon gets substantially better reception while ATT has terrible reception (if any at all).

In the National Academies' Keck building: no reception in most areas on the first floor, second floor, third floor, or fifth floor. Close to north-facing windows: zero or one bar. I would just set my cell phone to forward all calls to my work phone. Someone with Nextel service had great reception, though, even near the elevator. Also, south-facing offices on the fifth floor get some signal (carrier unknown). Out of the building: four bars.

I had AT&T TDMA for 4 years before switching. Granted I switched to GSM for about a month and was very disappointed so swithced back to my good ol' V60. Now I switched to Sprint and the service is great. The only reason I switched was because all of my friends who had Sprint never had any problems. Verizon sucks in this area, especially in any of the buildings. It's kind of a trade off. Where one service works, another won't and vice versa. I'm thinking about switching to Cingular now because of the merger and they have much better more mobile phones versus Sprint's older network.

No reception in or around my house. Have to go outside and down the street for the bars to come on! That's sad.
